Backup account

Under settings->privacy.

I have 'Back up my settings' checked.

However 'Backup account' says "no account is currently storing backed up data"

So what does having the 'Back up my settings' checked do in this case.

I had Googled but unfortunately neither your link or anything else I can find actually answers my question.

You can define a new Google account and the backup functions backs up all of your contacts, calendar entries etc to that 'backup' account

Thanks - what is not clear to me is what happens where you are in the situation of:

'Back up my settings' checked.

'Backup account' saying "no account is currently storing backed up data"

To me these contradict each other.

Yes it is, I agree, it shouldnt allow you to tick the box without defining a backup account...

Knowing nothing about Andriod but a little about s/w I think it is an upgrade issue from pre-ICS to ICS - pre-ICS only had the first check box and ICS has both.

However lots of people will go through this upgrade and it is unclear to me what happens.
