Help Backup and upgrade S3 without USB

Hi all,

Just some background -
I have a Galaxy S3 with a faulty USB port. It doesn't charge properly and when I connect it via USB my computer says "USB Device Not Recognized" and the USB icon does not appear on my notification bar.

I have purchased a battery charger and a spare battery for the S3 to keep me going until my upgrade arrives.

I have upgraded to the S5, which arrives tomorrow, but I need advising on how to transfer my data. I understand that Google backs up contacts, logs, messages etc, but is there a way of transferring app data or backing it up to my PC in a format that I can use to restore to my S5 when it arrives?

I have read about Titanium backup in the forums, and other products, but I'm not sure how I'd go about restoring the data on to a completely different phone.

I do have a 32GB MicroSD card, with data that I can format, if that leads to a solution.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks!

P.S. My phone is not rooted.

Since your not rooted I'm not so sure that you can do the app data as the programs that can do app data require a USB connection via pc (helium)

If it's just the apps you'd like, there is "my backup" which acts like titanium backup, only it doesn't backup the app data. Backs up everything else to your SD card.

Ah that's what I was thinking unfortunately. But yeah without a rooted device, all other software requires you to have a USB connection to a pc sadly.
