can any one give me the step by step procedure to backup my current rom and get back to stock rom without bricking my phone? and also the procedure to apply the backed up rom later on. thanx

You need to have ClockworkMod recovery and ROM Manager installed on your phone to backup. You can search in google for the installation instructions of these. Once you install, backup and restore current ROM using ROM Manager.
Note: Phone must have beeen rooted in order to use these apps.

use cwm to backup/restore your rom... search in google as "clockworkmod for galaxy y" you will get a zip file...
now go to recovery mode and select UPDATE FROM SD CARD
then select the cwm you have downloaded, it will bring u to cwm interface
now choose ADVANCED then select BACKUP to backup your rom... then reboot...
after this you can see CLOCKWORKMOD folder in your sd... dont delete it....
now can do the same process for restore...
this time select RESTORE... and select your backup folder and press YES... thats all...

btw my friend rom manager doesnt support backup/restore process... becuse our device doesnt have officially supported cwm... we are using ported one...

My friend...we can make it work for our sgy. Open rom manager and click on clockworkmod recovery....select our device when prompts..it tells you that rom manager is not officially available for our device... also asks if you have installed cwm manually...select yes and that's it..now we can use it for backup and record very..its working for me
