Root Bad Battery Life HTC 4G. Any tips?

Is there anything I can do to help my battery life if i play games on my phone.?
I asked him to start a new thread.
He is rooted.
There ya go.
We need to know if you are on a custom rom at all or if you still have stock rom.
And also what recovery do you have?
Perhaps we can recommend a custom rom/kernel that will help.:D

If you are playing a lot of games, there's not a whole lot that can be done. We can get you set up with a custom kernel and a recommendation to turn your brightness all the way down, but playing a lot of games is going to kill your battery.

Bring extras :p

my phone is rooted. my rom is MikG. my kernel 2.6.35.10-g4b48446. i dont know what setcpu is.

ok you will need a custom kernel. try anthrax, any of the freedom kernels, mason kernels.

you can most here:

setcpu is an app you can purchase on the play store. it is what you will need to scale the cpu ie over and underclocking your phone.

here are some readings for you:

Yeah it was in the works, but Adam (atyoung, the dev) got busy with some work stuff and all the dev work pretty much has been on the back burner.

IMHO, there's nothing that is going to make the battery life SIGNIFICANTLY better when playing games. Getting a good kernel/rom combo will help, but I don't think it is going to double your battery life or anything. Here is what I would do to max your battery life

1) Grab a custom kernel as mentioned above. I really have good luck with Underworld as of late. Great sleep rates for me.

[KERNEL][WIP] Underworld Sense Kernel v0.7 [Jun 2 2012][GINGERBREAD][SENSE] - xda-developers

2) Turn down your screen brightness. More brightness, worse battery. Turn off auto brightness too. That way your phone isn't constantly scanning to see how much brightness it needs to have.

3) Turn off 3G and DEFINITELY 4G if you're not using them. Every little bit helps. And keep wifi on. It uses hardly any battery.
