Root Bad for phone?

What damage does rooting do to your phone, if any? I am a newb and want to root but I want to know all the ins-and-outs before I do it.

Why do you want to root if you don't know what it does? If it matters...the only reason I would root my phone is so I can use my phone as a wireless hot spot. Other than that I see no reason personally I would need to root. Are you just wanting to do it to say you can? It also voids your warranty if VZW finds out.

No I do know what rooting does to your phone and the voiding of the warranty, but I want to know if there are any other problems with doing it. I know it may brick it as well but are there any other things?

you will be fine rooting your phone its very easy it you follow directions... and if something goes wrong there is usually a way to fix it as long as it still turns on... now flashing the OTA radio over itself is another problem
