Help Bad Reception

I'm just curious to know how many others are having trouble with reception with their Incredible. I average 79-86 on signal strength and the reception stinks! I can't hear my callers well nor can they hear me well, always having to ask to repeat. I am one mile from one tower and 2 1/2 miles from the other. I have been 6 times to VRW and they will not do anything about it saying nothing is wrong with it. I bought it last October and am at wits end. My wife and friends hear what I'm talking about and VRW will not switch it out!

Thanks in advance.:)

First, not to nit pick lol "VRW"? it's VZW.(sorry but that confused me for a minute)
But, your db levels are better than I get at home (usually -95 to -101) and I experience no reception/call quality issues. With those db levels you should be having zero issues. You may have a faulty microphone/earpiece. I'd definitely insist that your phone be replaced....
unless it's not your phone that is the problem but everyone else.

Sorry about that, as much as I pay VZW every month I should know that! Lol

It could be what you suggested. I forgot to mention that sometimes I hear a garbled sound and can't understand a word. I've been to VZW 6-7 times with no luck. Maybe I'll ask for the store owner.:D

if you have assurion you could always have something else happen to the phone to get a replacement if they won't replace it for that reason alone. By happen I mean accidentally of course ;)

Here is what I suggest: you need to start logging calls you have issues with so the engineers have something to work with and you have a paper trail of bad calls. I don't remember exactly but I think if you send 226# that will log the call...support can give you the number, just be sure to get to tier 2. Eventually they have to take note and start doing SOMETHING! YMMV, they should just replace the phone on warranty though, those are good levels compared to what I get at the house. good luck

Thanks, great idea about the call log. What do you mean by tier 2?

Thanks

Got ya! I have the insurance- factory warranty but don't think it includes smashed, dropped, or stolen phones!:D

You need to speak with someone in support in america, not india. They will be able to help and will take better notes on your account. Keep calling, have engineers check your towers, etc. eventually they well run out of options....replace phone.

To log a dropped call its ### and the hit send. It will come up and say "the call cannot be completed" which its supposed to. What that does is mark the call in vzw's system as a dropped call or a trouble call. So if you have a call you drop or have issues with, immediately do the ### send and that will flag it in their system.

As far as the insurance, if your paying for insurance every month, you would have assurion, which does cover smashed or waterlogged devices, fyi.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help. I will do the triple pound & send so they should be getting a lot of alerts since it's doing it about every day!

I do not have Assurion and was never even asked if I wanted it last October. I bought it from Sam's and bought an extended warranty but that doesn't include what's mentioned above, besides I wouldn't want to make a false claim.

Thanks again

yeah the triple pound thing just flags them in vzw's system so the techs know what towers and what switches are having problems. when you call to make a trouble ticket with the tech guys they need to see the dropped calls flagged in the system to know what towers or switches to go out and do some work to.

as far as the insurance thing, it was a suggestion. For sams stuff, its most likely an extended manufacturers warranty, which would only cover "defects" by the manufacturer and would definitely not cover water damage or anything else of that matter.

so after you have flagged a few calls with the ### thing, call up tech support and let them know you have had problems and have been flagging calls, they should be able to pull up a map, see which towers and which switchboard you are having problems with and probably send a tech out at that point, especially if your not the only one complaining about dropped calls in the area.

good luck!
