Root Bad uninstall

Pondering

Member
Was trying to uninstall an app and the uninstall failed. I got an error msg that a process had stopped working.

OV now missbehaving. gReader won't load, says not enough room for database (untrue). Other apps hanging or very slow to start.

Have run app cache cleaner, clean master, and checked for tombstones. Rebooted, including battery pull several times.

Before I reflash my mirage 2.6.32.9-012713, any other suggestions regarding cleaning this up?

Thanks!

1 - Download and run the 'SD Maid' app's 'CorpseFinder' function to find and remove any residual remnants of previously uninstalled apps.

2 - Run the 'SD Maid' app's 'Optimize DBs' function found under the 'Misc' options

If *NOT* running Link2SD or other similar apps, then follow these three 'a' steps:

3a - Reboot to Recovery

4a - Wipe Cache (3 times)

5a - Wipe Dalvik Cache under Advanced (3 times)

If running Link2SD, follow these three 'b' steps:

3b - Open the 'Link2SD' app, press [Menu] button, & select 'More' option

4b - Scroll down, select 'Clear all app caches', & let it finish

5b - Select 'Clean up the dalvik-cache', let it finish, & close 'Link2SD'

6 - Reboot Phone

7 - Let the OV boot-up fully (wait 10 minutes before touching it)

8 - Then check to see if the OV and its apps are still misbehaving.

That process took care of the problems. Thanks!

Great! You're very welcome.

You should really update your MiRaGe ROM to the current version (which also includes the latest kernel). There have been some minor changes and a couple of major critical Android security patches that mrg666 had incorporated since your installed version.

Current MiRaGe Versions -

Kernel: 2.6.32.9-042613
ROM Build: GWK74 (07132013/VM670)

FYI, and remember to wipe the cache and Dalvik cache before flashing... :)

From your recommendation to upgrade, I take it the new version is stable on the OV? I rolled back to the build I am now using because the lastest version (may have) caused some problems ... of course, that was actually a "few" builds ago!

Personally, I've never had any stability issue with any version of MiRaGe in my experience. Best approach is to create a nandroid backup of your current version, then update and see if the latest version exhibits any stability issue for your particular setup. If you encounter issues, then just restore your nandroid backup, and you're back to your configuration before the update. Again, remember to wipe the cache and Dalvik cache prior to flashing--as this is the usual culprit for most instability issues and abnormal behaviors if not done properly.
