day is still young.. someone could pop up with the review any minute! :)

i dont really like the grey/black as much as i like black/black and red/black so i will get all three and will sell the grey one for about half off once the black ships in about a week and a half.. :D

I actually wanted the grey/black since I have the defender that's all black. I do like the red but I have to see a few pics once its out to see what shade of red it really is. Can't trust the computer generated image on the ballistic website.
 
this case is big but i think you guys will love it!!

the case came in a plane jane white box. inside is the invoice and then the case was wrapped in bubble wrap. nothing fancy but no one needs fancy packaging anyway.

the case was bigger than i thought however the phone fits in the case just nicely.

included is an instruction card, the "squeegee card", screen protector, and cleaning cloth.

i am NOT a fan of the kickstand. its plastic and it can break off if you hyper extend it.it "snaps" into place in its "docked" position. when you pull the kickstand out, there is no positive "click" or lock mechanism to let you know its out.

the silicon shell feels like the sprint silicon case. it has a rubber cover over the hdmi and usb ports. as for the camera, leds, speaker in back, there is a plastic piece covering those up. so keep this clean of debris when you want to snap a photo.

overall the case is a winner for me. it is indeed rugged and solid feeling.

YES! the top part of the case has the screen protector built in plus there is one in the box you can apply yourself. this is the first time ive used such a screen protector (built in the case) and it works FLAWLESS!!!! im not a case guy but i just had to grab this...

Now I really can't wait for mine to finally get here after seeing all your pics! I know alot of people hate the built in screen protectors but I totally love it on my defender. Can't wait to compare notes.
 
i didnt know such things existed since i dont usually purchase cases, however i fail to see why people dont like it. i dont know if they are all made like the ballistic is made or if they are all different, but the integration is just excellent. you sir will not be disappointed.

the kickstand does hold up the entire case and all its layers in it. it does not wobble or "wadle" :D --it stays put! again its fragile and maybe like the defender one where i have read of people having issues with that kickstand. it is plastic.

the red accents will be on FIRE! i cant wait to get that one!

Some people have complained about getting an "oil slick" effect from the built in screen protectors. I haven't had that issue. I really like how the grey looks much darker in your pictures than on their site too. Bodes well for the red if it's darker as well.
 
So you can use the integrated screen protector with another already applied one? And before you put the final silicone wrap on is it about the size of a Commuter case from Otterbox? With the wrap that looks huge, but in a good way.
 
@edlex, that you for the follow up. i am enjoying this case. i dropped it about thigh high (didnt have the balls to do it waist high!) onto the kitchen floor (tile) and it didnt shut off or anything else!i did it face first. :D so far the phone still works normally!

@scott, i dont have the additional screen protector on so i cannot confirm or deny this. :D.

ooh and i love the new car smell... :)

I use a sgp screen protector with my defender's built in one and it works perfect. Can't speak to the ballistic yet unfortunately as I wait patiently for usps...:(
 
Yeah, at least yours is in the mail, I'm waiting for the black/black because I am required to wear black pants at work so if I have to holster it, in theory it will be less noticeable. And of course they announce the preorder today and I need to wait til payday unfortunately. :mad:
 
scott dont worry about the pre order... thats just a gimmick they are doing to hype up demand for the case. they have to sell a certain number of these jokers to pay for the R and D thats already been spent on it so they want to get their money back asap. ;) worry not you can order right up until midnight before the launch and it will ship the next day. :)
 
I figured that was the way it worked marctronixx, but I'd still like the case in my hands now. I work retail and just know that if my phone takes a real nasty spill when I'm doing something in the commuter case it's not gonna make it. Thanks for the video.
 
I think I'll pass on this one. It might offer great protection, but it looks gigantic. I can just imagine walking around in NYC and having people point and stare at that monstrosity.

Well without the silicone it's about the size of the defender. With the silicone it's a little bigger but not too big that it can't be handled with one hand. The silicone is the only way to assure that the top headset port and the bottom hdmi/usb ports are protected though.
 
It being bigger than the Defender worries me. I was hoping that without the silicon it would be slightly smaller than the defender. Kinda like a Seidio Rugged but more advanced.
