Help Barely have a 3G signal

I rarely have a 3 g signal with my rezound. My 2 other Verizon devices have no issue with the 3G signal. Any suggestions?

Verizon's having network issues. Call *611 Option #3 and if you hear, "Customers in your area are reporting network issues..." then they know about problems in your area.

Yep, 3G is having some issues. Seems to always happen when VZW does a big 4G network increase, like happened this week.

Oh, and on 4G devices you'll have trouble with 3G when 3G only devices don't appear to have any trouble. Back in the spring Verizon was having trouble with its 4G network and instead of only 4G being affected, if you have a 4G phone even 3G was affected. Verizon told me it had something to do with how its network handled 4G devices (since they use the SIM card). At any rate, you'd find 3G only devices that had no problems but those of us with 4G devices didn't even get 3G. I think we were lucky to even get 1X. If you go through the older Thunderbolt section, you'll find plenty of threads http://androidforums.com/htc-thunderbolt/325082-tb-stuck-1x-since-11pm-tonight-nyc-4.html

Fortunately, it's not a phone related issue as much as it's a Verizon related issue, although some phones have been known to have their own issues....

Go through some of these threads if you want to see the growing pains that Thunderbolt owners went through. Kind of funny seeing how fast some early adopters posted in those threads and then stopped posting in the Thunderbolt section altogether. I guess some members just don't have that pioneering spirit in em! :D

lol^
looks like a bunch of threads that need merged :)

The reason I heard why the 4G owners had issues getting 3G was because they kinda have 2 different networks. People who have 3G only phones (feature & 3G smartphones) are on Verizon's standard network. People who have 4G smartphones & data devices are on a hybrid 4G/3G network. If I recall correctly it's called eHRPD.

eHerpDerp whut?

I remember reading about eHRPD on the Tbolt forum when I still had one. That's the reason when there were 4G issues that 3G wouldn't work either. eHRPD is a hybrid 4G/3G network, running in tandem with Verizon's standard 3G EVDO network. Like I said in the last post, owners of a 4G phone get their 4G/3G data from this hybrid network. So when it goes down, they lose not only 4G, but 3G as well, but it doesn't affect standard 3G phones (feature & 3G only smartphones) running on Verizon's standard 3G EVDO network. Google it and you'll find plenty of links on it, some from the Tbolt section here on AF.

It may also explain what happened to me last night. I was out for awhile, and when I got home I got a call and it was like I had no signal. I checked my Network Extender and it showed everything was fine, but my signal was around 95dBm, what it normally is without my NE. I did a battery pull and then it found my NE again. I remember having to do this once with my Tbolt. So I'm guessing it didn't transition well from the hybrid network to the standard one that the NE runs on. I may be wrong, but I don't know how else to explain it since I never had the issue with any standard 3G phones.

lol, I was being facetious with the whole "Herp Derp" thing. As for 4G issues, you have to realize that you now have 8 new 4G devices from Verizon where just a few short months ago they had 3-4. And now that you have cities all over the place popping up with 4G, that's going to tax the hell out of their network. I'll say this for Verizon, they're doing a damn good job considering how much more traffic is going through their network. I wish TxDot was this efficient with their "network".

I returned my rezound but found this when I goggled eHRPD

I just bought the HTC Thunderbolt and everything is good and I had a good stable 3G connection but today it dropped down to 1X and stayed there... I pulled the battery and SIM and did a factory reset and still only 1X signal. then I read where u can dial ##778# and it disable eHRPD and just set it to Rev. A. Which I did and now my 3G is working fine. I want to know what exactly eHRPD is. I know it does not have much if anything to do with simultaneous voice and data because even after changing that setting I can still do that.... so what is eHRPD?

Yeah, and the reason the data dropped down probably had to do with either adding new markets to 4G or sometimes (like with the Droid Charge) when a new phone get added to the network. It's not like the 4G/3G is constantly down, but it does seem to be affected when new stuff goes live.
