Barometric pressure

I'm trying to get accurate display from the Note 3 barometric pressure sensor. [in hectopascals or millibars] You all knew it had that sensor, right?

There are apps around to give you a read-out. It seems you need to calibrate the thing and most of the apps don't allow for that despite purporting to give a supposedly remarkably accurate pressure reading. A lot correct for altitude using GPS, though - which helps.

In case I'm reinventing the wheel, anyone got recommendations on this?

So far farproc's 'Barometer' seems to work OK allowing for manual altitude correction and instrument bias (very simple readout) and DS Barometer finds your altitude from GPS and applies a correction. So far they seem the best.

Some of the others are just hopeless - notably Weather Signal and the free version of Weather Station which effectively give you gibberish.

What did you use to calibrate it against? I was thinking of going to my local airfield to get accurate height/baro readings to use but I was stuck as to if there was an easier option.

First thing is the correct altitude and also usefully, my local airfield pressure figures are constantly updated online. I'm beginning to trust the numbers coming out of the phone now. A few days of comparing and I'll be there.

The British Met Office advice on calibrating a barometer is to compare with their figures and turn the calibration screw on the back. Helpful!

Come on Simon the Met Office calibration is for a 'real' barometer hehe.
I use S Baro from Samsung which I find quite good.

Hi Simon as you say S Baro has no way to calibrate but I do know that where I live the altitude is spot on.
