You can use the custom sound profiles in the phones settings, or better yet, use a music player (app) like Mixing that has an EQ built in.

I think it's a technilogical fact that you're not gonna get much base out of a small speaker like we have in the Droid X.

Have you tried DSPManager? It works quite well on GB to improve the sound quality.

If u want good sound the best way to get is to buy a good set of multiple cone ear phones. They cost, but in this case you get what you pay for.
