My co worker got his replaced for free when it went bad. We ruled out his rezound being the culprit of not getting lte by putting my sim in his phone.

I suggest you try the same if you have someone you trust with another working Verizon lte sim card. AFAIK, device doesn't matter when swapping sims. When I put my card in my coworker's rezound, it had my number and data that boot.

The Verizon employee might try his sim in your phone if you sweet talk him. Ofc, cab flash to stock before bringing it in.
 
Thank You for all the information. I restored the phone using the lg recovery update tool. I'll try to swap sim cards to see if it is the device's problem.
 
I'm also interested in this. I made a backup from a non-booting phone, but I'm unable to confirm whether it had V8. I might put it on a working phone today if my gf lets me.
 
Does the baseband have much todo with WiFi?

Both of my Spectrums have WiFi only (no service).
I use my DInc II as a Hotspot Energy ROM, and I get no more then 85kbs on my Spec.

I just got my Sam Tab 2 7.0" and I get 1.7mbs - 500kbs and no less.

I tried other ROMs, but ICY Fusion is the only one with Aspect Ratio correction that actually works.

SPB Time has the multi timers and cool skins.

So back on topic, I will try the other basebands and see.

Baseband controls the 3G/4G radio.
Kernel controls the WiFi.

Consider a different kernel. CyanogenMOD comes with its own kernel, but I don't think this is typical of all ROMs.

My girlfriend's old VS920 had died and nothing seemed to get it past the boot animation (not even restoring from a nandroid backup). About an hour ago, I made backups of the firmware (mmcblk0p1) and baseband (mmcblk0p14) on the new replacement VS920, and copied it to the old phone and it came back to life.

I found a copy after hours of searching and just flashed V8 successfully to it.

Yes kernel controls WiFi and should have nothing to do with the radio files.

All full custom ROMs should include a kernel.

I have my wife's stock Spectrum with ZV9. I have no clue how to get an image. Is there a way to get this without disturbing what she has on it?

No luck on getting the image posted up anywhere? I'd like to get the v9 baseband in case anything changed.... but dont really want to cab flash to get them :(
 
In a large area that we, and I say we as in my wife and I, use to get strong 4G and now with ZV9 we get 3G, which drives us crazy, with ZV7 we got more 4G signals and with ZV8 4G was okay but it was laggy, slower to respond. YMMV
 
Phone signal and text uses 2G while data (internet/email) uses 3G or 4G. It's possible to have stronger 2G while weaker 4G between different basebands; thus it's possible you're both observing correctly.
