Root Basic Rooting Question: What is 2init??

Hello,

I have a rooted phone and have flashed a few ROMs in my time, but I've noticed a new "breed" of roms being talked about recently 2init ROMS or 2nd Init. Can someone please give a basic breakdown explanation of what those are and how they differ from rooted GB, Apex, or some of the other popular roms? Are they fully working (camera/camcorder to name a few problem areas)?

Thanks so much in advance!

Camera/camcorder is working on all 2nd-init roms as far as I know. No 720p recording but that has nothing to do with 2nd init.

Thanks! Very interesting. One thing it doesn't say is if you can reverse the 2init process if you ever have problems with your phone and have to return it for some reason. Are there several ROMs that take advantage of 2init or is it just CM7 ROM?

Thanks so much for all of your help!

Yes you can SBF your phone just like any other ROM. As far as other ROMs that take advantage of it there are OMGB, and OMFGB, and Liquid GB which are very similar to CM7 and then there's MIUI which has a very iPhone appearance.

I am in here a good bit, but I must have missed something somewhere along the way. What is a 2nd init rom? Been reading about them a lot in here, but still have no clue what that means
