Help Basic User Compares Hero and Moment

Lurker
I am a Sprint customer looking for an Android phone for basic functions. I am trying to choose between the Hero and the Moment. I have 1 of each right now from Sprint, on the 30 day trial. Here are the challenges I find with each. Does anyone know of any fixes for these?

Hero
1) Phone hangs up during calls because of lack of proximity sensor
2) Speaker phone wont turn off once activated, unless I end the call
3) Vibration mode is very weak and basically useless. Cant feel it in my pocket
4) Sprint Navigation does not work

Moment
1) Battery runs out before end of day
2) Bluetooth is spotty and wont always connect
3) Web navigation not as smooth as Hero.

thanks!

1. There is an app called proximity sensor you can get from the marketplace for the hero.
2. It should turn off by hitting the button again
3. Can't help that one.
4. How does it not work? Make sure your firmware and Sprint nav are the most recent versions. Make sure you have a clear sky view for good signal.

Moment:

1) CL14 upgrade improves this.
2)Current issue with this phone, will be fixed later on.
3)Try Dolphin as a browser (market search it). Granted, there is no multi-touch on the Moment, so the pinch to zoom thing may be what you're talking about on how 'smooth' the browsing is.

thanks for these replies!!

Question for TheFoodman52. How much does Cl14 improve the Moment battery life? I am a light user and not making it through the day. Also, do I have to go to Sprint to get the update or can I just get it over the air?

Question for everyone. If you had to choose, would you choose Hero or Moment?

I actually had the hero before coming to the momen. I would NEVER go back to the hero. The only thing i missed about the hero was the virtual keyboard, but you can install it on the moment.

I say, stick with the moment dude...

If you turn off GPS on the Moment battery life more than doubles. I turn on the GPS when I need it, then turn it off again once I am done.

the cl14 update is huge in what it does for battery life. with the original setup if you had gps on, it ran all the time and killed battery. with the cl14, it only comes on when you are using something that requires it, ala navigation. dont compare them unless you get that update done, or it's not a fair chance for the moment.
