Basix for R910 Ver 1.0 first impression

I have tested both ROMS, Basix and Exodus. and I also have the extended battery 3500mah. I am about to calibrate the battery and wipe the Dalvik's cache, I am using Basix right now and I want to make sure that the ROM has nothing to do with the battery life, but this is what's happening right now: I'm just doing 4G browsing with no Apps/Services running in the background and I have the my Indulge connected to the wall charger, and the battery drops 1% every 3-4 minutes!!!
The previous day I had the stock ROM installed and rooted of course, and I listened music for 1 hour and the phone only lost 4% of battery, XD.... and Yes, I had done the calibration at 100% and wipe all the stats.
The reason why I'm writing this is because I really like the Basix ROM but I don't want to believe that it has some programming bug or conflict with hardware that makes the battery lose so much power, I have used the Exodus and it seems that it works just slightly better than the stock ROM, therefore I will return tomorrow to let you know how it went after calibrating with the Basix ROM.

One thing I've also noticed is that with the Basix ROM the phone randomly sends data for long intervals of time (about 2-3 min) and then it stops. Does anyone have any idea why?

Screw this ROM!!! It's been only 20 minutes, and all I did was browsing and arranging my apps on the screen, and I have lost 10% of battery power. I'm going back to the stock rom, but before that I'll try Exodus to see if it has the same problem. I don't trust Basix anymore. nice themes and visuals but highly unrecommended.

hmm, with Basix and stock batter I can now last all day and charge once a day. Not sure why you are having all these issues.

What are the correct steps to priming and prepping the phone for use between testing Rom's? There seems to be factors that affect battery drain if not done correctly..
Experts a list please..
Thanks..

Shouldn't be happening at all. Deep charge that battery.

I got 23 hours the other day with the Ebay 3500 and Basix with 4G off, and I still had 19% left before I charged her up.

I got 14 Hours today with the same set up, and 4g on.

-Make sure it's charged to a TRUE 100%, not a "My indulge has no idea what 100% is, 100%.-
-When you're at a TRUE 100%, wipe the battery stats in CWM before full power on.-
-Turn off GPS unless using it.-
-Turn off Background data unless using it.-
-If you just switched between 4G and 1x be aware there is a weird bug where the battery loses an absurd amount of charge (mostly fake) for doing this.-
-Be wary of how the battery drains. It's not always accurate. On my 23 hour day, I got all the way down to 42% before discharge slowed down massively ( I think a spent about a half hour at each percent after that). Accept that this is a phone problem, not a battery problem, and at least be happy that it's a sign that the extended battery is, y'know, extended.-

the difference between 4g browsing and listening to music is very, very different. no reason to compare battery life between the 2.

This is just and example, not a comparison, the music player should use less battery than the 4G chip, because is just data reading. and by the way, doing the **5XXXX## shortcut for 1XCDMA doesn't make a difference, this is something else that's causing the phone kill the battery so quick. But I'm gonna leave this thing charging 12 hours turned off to and then wipe the stats to see if there's an improvement. :(

(for some reason, i feel that the 3600mah battery would've work better)

Yeah, this. Consider also screen on time, and the fact that when you buy "3600mah" batteries from FleaBay (or anywhere), you are not getting what you pay for. This is well-publicized.

Now, all I'm going to say besides "check your own usage habits", "calibrate your battery", "consider 4G battery drain", and "use wifi" is, I don't sprinkle magic fail dust on my ROMs. There is no battery drain bug. I wouldn't let that one out the door - ever. Trust me. ;) I've been doing this for a long time.

EDIT: And, folks, try not to send mixed messages. If you're going to "make sure the ROM has nothing to do with battery life", don't go and say "screw this ROM!!!!!1!one" just a few sentences later. That's just rude.

And one more thing: comparing a settled-in device to one on first boot or shortly after is... far from fair. Consider what's going on in your scenario above:

- You have the screen on, probably at full brightness.
- You're actively browsing with 4G, one of the biggest battery killers in the device.
- You just set up your device with a new ROM after wiping data, thus you are...
- Syncing contacts.
- Syncing email.
- Syncing calendar.
- Checking for Market updates.
- Checking for app updates.

So, uh, yeah, you're going to see battery drain. ;) Even if you have no email and no calendar events, the device is still going to ping Google servers.

To sum it up even more simply. Battery issues are not the Rom's fault. Usually not ANY rom's fault.

Do what I said, and you should notice a difference. Then if none of that helps, the next likely thing is obviously the battery is junk. Just cause I got lucky with my fake 3500mah battery doesn't mean you will.

To prove my point.

11 hours on, moderate use. 74 percent battery life.

There is NOTHING inefficient about Basix 1.0

I was WINMO for a long time and flashed roms every other day.

BASIX is running great!!!! Problems occassionally occur if you immediatly dump all the crap you had on your previous rom.

Don't restore any apk"s or programs and see how BASIX runs so well...

Then load one program at a time to see how it reacts, then you"ll know what's causing your problems.

Thanks for all the hard work put into BASIX, I greatly appreciate it.......

Anyone else seem to brick there r910 when flashing to basix?

install completed successfully but when the phone rebooted it seems to be stuck at the SAMSUNG boot logo. Anyone know a process for fixing this?

no need to multi-post. That might get you in trouble in these parts.
Anyways, your question is already answered in your other thread.

Hey if anyone was still trying to figure out how to add their own ringtone to the notification or text just download es file manager go into it look for the ringtone you want or the mp3 you want long press on it select copy and then go into the media folder and I believe its either the audio or music anyways you might see two folders in there go into the one that has that silent or facebook pop in and long press again and paste there you can't believe it took me a min to figure this out there I had put my two cents in. Lol and btw does anyone know how to improve the 4g its works when I surf the internet but when I use a music downloader it acts stupid when I'm in a 4g area like imm restricted from using it it used to work but now I dunno I'm currently in atlanta ga and my prl is at 3019 I believe

No talk and surf was a dissapointment but I loved the rom none the less, the look, speed, ect
But I didnt like that I could no longer save my web pages to the home screen
And maybe its just me but the rom was a battery killer compared to stock so I switched back to stock

1. You don't get talk and surf on any ROM.
2. You can use TouchWiz or any other launcher if you like. How to use them is entirely yours to learn.
3. You didn't calibrate your battery or take any other steps as everyone else in this and the Basix thread has.

Thank you so much. Huge fan. One question...well, statement.... my battery can be fully charged, but if I reboot it's less than half. I've deep charged the battery and calibrated it as well. Any ideas?

well, it was working fine, now it seems to be locking up the touchscreen, to where i have to reboot it to get it to start, and its start to lag really hard.. is anyone else having this issue? i havent installed any new apps at all recently, so im at a loss as to what it could be..

BTW the local metro store here sells replacement SAMSUNG extended batteries with cover... $34.99.
This may be off topic, but does this phone have a 3g indicator? My good friend at my store said hang tight, it's coming. She also tried talking me out of this phone and to get me to stay with my ascend.
