Help Batery @ 100% afther 27 hours...

Sarma

Newbie
Used to have Galaxo and would lose about 20% of batery power per day...
Now i switched to IK5 and on full batery with wifi on 2 days streight(on II5 not even a day).
But here's the strange thing...i've put my phone on low consumption: lowered cpu speed and removed anything that would keep the phone from sleeping...27 hours have passed and still at 100%...wrote 2 sms and 1 phonecall...
So is the batery metar broken or IK5 that good???

Thats wicked!!! The only (beside 1.5 rom) thing I dont like on my phone is broken battery meters... It just turns off when I think it should be running for a few hours more... I got my SE Xperia for few days now and it shows battery in 1% precise count. Love it.

Pozdrav za Sarmu i Xenona

with wifi on
Permanently on, or is it set to turn off when you lock the phone?

And people, would you please stop speaking foreign language here? This is simply offensive to others, as it's an English speaking forum.

Mate seriously, try to be less aggressive. There's no need.
It's not offensive to me, in fact as someone who has travelled I understand the value of periodically meeting countrymen/same language speakers. If entire posts were non-English I'd understand, but that is't the case. The content is English, pleasantries Croatian. Fair d.

I'm not aggressive - I said 'please' and explained my point. I'm Russian, but I don't speak Russian here. Pleasantries can be exchanged in PM.

I think it's just that 'offensive' is a powerful and loaded word. In context it is pretty aggressive, even though I understand you didn't mean it to be so.
No offence meant ;)

Wow what a dumb thing to say. Last I saw the Galaxy was available in many countries some even where almighty English is not a primary language.

Relax, it's a greeting. We're not exchanging secret Galaxy information
which informale should not know ;)

:) But can you speak Russian? :) I ask because "pozdrav" is quite similar to "здравствуй". Not sure what got you upset there.

Back to topic. I was using II5 with galaxo for quite a long time and yesterday decided to switch to IL3. My phone wasn't charged since yesterday morning (except for short periods while it was connected to a pc). Had few 5-10 min calls (3G), few SMSes, some apps installed -- downloaded through both 3G and WiFi, some web surfing and some application testing (SpeedForge :) to see if hardware 3D is ok with g1's hgl lib, etc.).

Battery meter now shows 60%, which I believe is realistic, but it's to early to make any conclusions about actual battery life improvements compared to II5/galaxo. For now no drastic differences between them, both regarding battery meter and battery life.

Unfortunatelly, never tried IK5, so I cannot advise there.

Well, IK5 was a major breakthrough in terms of battery life - according to my experience with it and other people's responses around the forum. Judging by your usage profile, L3 is quite similar. I'm not sure any more optimisations to the fw are possible to make it last longer, esp. in 3G networks.

But what I have noticed, is that WiFi is much more energy efficient than 3G data. When I'm at home the whole day, I leave WiFi on (no wifi sleep on lock) and autosync on. Maybe my 3G coverage is not good, but the same home scenario on 3G data consumes the battery much faster.

Which is why I was asking the OP: "Permanently on, or is it set to turn off when you lock the phone?"

Yup, 3G is a major battery eater.

About WiFi. Don't know about OP, but I have it off when phone sleeps. I suppose that's a leftover habit from the last device I was using. It was HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris) on WM6. On it WiFi wasn't very power efficient. With normal usage and without WiFi the battery lasted 2-3 days (and that's more than I ever got on Galaxy with same usage). HSDPA was always on. But if I would turn HSDPA off and WiFi on, it would drain it in less than a day. Don't remember if 3G was also turned off when HSDPA was off though. But even if it wasn't, this was too great of a discrepancy to be explained solely by 3G also being active.

Anyway, I'll try leaving WiFi on to see the results on IL3. And report it here in few days.

is it noticeably better than k4?
'cause i've been quite happy with my battery life on k4, and i've figured i wouldn't update the firmware again until donut(+), but erratic acore fc's have drawn me to reconsider this

Well, I think I'll switch back to my old WiFi mode. After less than 24h, battery is at 9% with WiFi on all the time (and autosync *off*). You have better results than that, informale?

I have not been on IK4 for long enough to notice any differences. I flashed it a couple of days before IK5 went out.

According to this weekend measurements, I have about 14-16 hours of battery life with Wi-Fi on all the time and autosync on (I simply don't want to have my laptop turned on all the time, so I use the phone for e-mail notifications and preview).

I'm currently using II5.
Tweaked CPU settings with "Set CPU".
Using "Sleep/Standby" profile with minimum (245 min/245 max) and main setting is at "320 max / 245 min".

Battery is at %74 after 53 hours with normal usage.
At least 15 min talk and a couple of messages everyday.
