Accessories Batteries. OEM vs Aftermarket

Does anybody have any real experience with this? My worry is that an aftermarket battery might harm the phone. As far as battery life im not that concerned. Has anybody had bad experiences with them?

I get better battery life while on 3G with the aftermarket eBay batteries I got for $10, on EDGE, the stock battery does better.

You are not going to harm your phone as long as the batteries are the same voltage and amperage. Make sure they are more/ equal mAh to the stock battery.

i get decent battery life out of my aftermarket ones but they arent nearly as good as my oem one

Volts need to match, yes.
Amps (current) don't really apply to battery specs. The phone draws what it draws. Your comment is applicable to chargers, which need to be rated for at least the minimum current requirements of the device. For chargers, yes... the amp/mA rating needs to be equal or more.

The mAh rating for batteries is different than just current... it's a measure of how much energy is contained within the battery. It's ok to use a battery with the same volts but less mAh... it just won't run as long. Likewise, more mAh equals more runtime.

Worth noting that many aftermarket batteries lie about their mAh rating, especially "high-capacity" batteries that try to justify their premium cost but may not actually contain more energy than stock. It's a common scam. Best to use a battery that's been properly measured and confirmed.

I have two aftermarket batteries from e-bay that came with a wall charger. I have had good performance from them. Very close to as good as the OEM battery.
