battery app recommendation

All a good battery app will do is turn off things you're not using. You can do that without an app. Keep all radios you're not using (wifi, data, bluetooth, GPS) turned off unless you need them. Keep your screen timeout short (like 15 seconds). Use a dark theme (lighting up pixels takes power).

Best kind of app you can get is one that shows whats eating the battery. Gsam is pretty good or Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector.
There are some decent battery saving apps especially if youre rooted but as Rukbat says, they mainly do things you could do manually and the app itself uses power.
Dont be fooled by some of the crazy claims of play store apps. Display and radios are the biggest battery eaters

I've been using DS battery saver for several months and seems to do a decent job,

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaver

and as I can be forgetful it helps prevent me leaving battery draining options on.

Also a quick and easy tip if some strange behaviour starts is to shut down the device and remove the battery for minute, then replace and boot up.This can clear locked apps etc.

as for backing up app I use Es file explorer,

HTH :)

I use DS too but only to extend standby time when i know im gona be away from a charger for long :)

Ironically most battery saving apps increase power consumption by constantly running in the background.

Gsam is pretty good
+1 for that.

I agree fully with Funkylogic...

Personally I can't see putting another layer of complexity (example juice defender) between me and my phone's controls. The exception is in adjusting things that I might not remember to adjust... like turning wifi off when you leave home or the office. I use Tasker to do this but there are a few simpler apps that do this also.

Back to the programs like Juice Defender, there are some that swear by them. Just depends on your preferences.

DU Battery Saver
All it does is turn off functions at certain times.
I have it set to kill wifi & mobile data at 11 p.m. and turn them back on at 7 a.m. It leaves the phone and SMS on.
You can make your own mode, schedules etc.

I can go for a day and still have 90% left.

I had tried JD and found it never did anything but eat my battery?
