Battery B.S.

I also think ICS could help battery life as well.

Also, on a side not

New Corning Lotus Glass that is "rumored" to be used in place of Gorilla Glass on the Nexus "might" help at reducing battery consumption.

So, I think this could absolutely be legit and I am not so willing to just poo poo it because of the crap battery life of current LTE phones.

Can someone explain how cover glass on phone can reduce battery consumption?

Heavy surfing means what? That the user is constantly entering in URLs into the browser without taking time to read anything in between? Because that's the only way to simulate high radio usage. While you're actually reading the page, not much is using the battery except the display. So the test might as well have been to keep the display on at full brightness and see how long the battery lasts. You'll find that the battery will do quite well in that scenario.

Constantly loading URLs is not a real world test. Most apps don't use 100% screen, radio and CPU at the same time. That will give poor battery life on any piece of hardware.

Streaming music doesn't require the use of the screen and can use a low powered processor to run. The only big hog is the radio, and that can be effectively managed so it doesn't run constantly. Work smarter, not harder.

Razr seems to be getting mixed early user reviews on battery life. Some users can't get through 9 hours even in 3G while some others can go beyond 10 hours in 4G. That's mostly under medium usage.

This is just a guess, but a more transflective display may be able to display the same level of brightness while consuming less power. With glass, the more reflections and the more light that it absorbs, the more difficult it makes it to see the screen. Better glass technologies can help reduce reflections and the amount of light that the glass absorbs so that it's easier to see the display at a lower power output, which consequently saves battery.

The Gnex doesn't have lotus glass anyways as confirmed in another thread but I couldn't see the glass making a difference enough for it to be noticeable

If my 3g performance was that bad I'd swap it out. I'm wondering if Moto has a QA problem with the Razr?

Unless I see the breakdowns of how long each was used, its not a complete picture. The screen coulda been on for an 1 hour.

Whenever I see my screen on time its between 3-5 hours, averages 4. My phones over the past year has lasted from between 16 hours to 29 hours, moderate to heave use. Never all heavy use tho.

I agree, where is the calls shot? We have to factor that in too.
