RE the original topic.. The discrepancy could be due to the fact that voltage is a factor in calculating the battery level. After removing the charger it may spike for a short period of time.
I do however thing battery calibration is way off for most people. I notice that the first 30% of battery drops far faster than the next 40%, and the last 30% seems to last forever.
I've just charged with the phone off (USB), wiped battery stats and rebooted. Lets see what happens of the next day or two. I'll try the same again with the AC charger if its not much better.
