Help Battery charge from new

i just bought my Galaxy S2 and was told to charge it for 16 hours, is this right or total rubbish?

thats rubbish, you can use it right out of the box, it has a lithium ion battery which doesn't require this.

I just popped in my sim and then plugged in the charger so that i could play with it for as long as i wanted, my battery life is great, i get up to 2 days

as per patrat7. i used mine straight out off the box and never had issues with battery life.

I turned mine on about 4 seconds after I took it out of the box as I do with every gadget I ever get.
