Help Battery charges "down"

Hi i have a rooted lg motion with stock ics. All of a sudden when i put my phone to charge, i see the battery percentage goes up and down. I turned off the phone completely to give it a better charge but the next day it showed 2% was left even though it was indicating it was charging. I tried removing the battery but that didnt help. After it reaches 1% the phone shuts down. This is a weird problem because i've never seen a battery try to kill itself while charging.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello Devendra. Your battery can't charge down while charging. ;)

It, however, can discharge while on the charger if something in the charging circuit is defective or mal-connected. I'd first suspect the charging cable. Test that by getting a new one or borrowing a known working one from somebody with the same device.

I'd first take some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to the charging port on the device.. thoroughly cleaning that area (it evaporates quickly, don't worry about the initial wetness). Some users even take a pin to pull out lint or other debris. I like to use a vacuum cleaner with the small attachment. ;)

IMO,

To play it safer remove the battery.

Use just the first few rows of bristles on a toothbrush dipped in rubbing alcohol on the charging port. Let dry, re-install badry.

Rock n' Roll.
