Help Battery/charging problem.

When my phone is charging it's acting really strange. It charges to around 50-90% and starts decharging really fast until the phone dies out. And then it repeats the process until I'm lucky and it recharges fully. So now recharging it takes 24-36 hours.
It only stated doing it about a week ago, and I'm really baffled, since i've been treating the battery properly. Please help me.
 
No, it simply dies out from lack of power (reaching 0%). I have to press the power button to get it back on.
 
Which charger do you use? The AC charger which came with the phone or the USB port at the PC?

EDIT: With only USB charge, a running app could drain the battery.

I take it, you have the latest Android version on your Desire. So some apps restart again by themselves despite an active task killer.
EDIT: It will be a loop: ATK kills them - OS starts them again - ATK kills - OS starts ....
Uninstall that task killer, it could be your source of trouble.

EDIT: Why don't you use your original HTC wall charger?

Task killer is set to kill apps when i switch the screen off, so that isn't the problem. But I'll try installing it the nest time i have to recharge
And yes, i always keep my Android up to date. ^^

And I'm using the USB charger because my computer takes up all the outlets in the vicinity and i work from home on my computer. The closes free outlet will have me running back and forth, and unable to work or check things while talking.
