Help battery dead in 8 hours

in the last few days my battery life has severely deteriorated. From full charge to warning is only 8 hours, when I used to at least make it thru the day. Looking under battery use it shows that "email" is the battery hog leader......? in this 8 hour period all the phone was doing is sitting there doing nothing while I slept

I don't know why this is doing this all of a sudden. I'm starting to dislike this phone!

apparently the email program is having an issue. It wont stop running. I kill it but it doesn't die, it's still in the process list. I've removed email accounts from it I've rebooted twice

Try going into the application manager and hit "clear cache" and "clear data" both, then reboot.

Menu > settings > applications > manage applications

You'll have to reconfigure the email.

It could also be a sync loop, sometimes that is a Google problem and not your device.

when i clear data, i go out and it immediately has 44.00kb again. cache is greyed out. "force stop" has no effect

i have noticed that it is not in the battery usage stats anymore. the last day or so it was the top of the list.

When was the last time you updated your PRL? If you don't have the latest PRL (preferred roaming list) it will keep searching for the strongest signal if you're not in an ideal Sprint location and thus drain your battery faster. Worth a shot.

i dont think i've ever updated the PRL. IMO I think you shouldnt ever have to update it, but that's just me.

Unfortunately you should from time to time. I agree though you shouldnt but that is what sprint tech support has told me on more than one occasion and phone brand, meaning android and blackberry. If you look at your battery usage, and your cell standby time has anthing more than 5% without signal than you should for sure. And if you keep getting that then i would say talk to tech supportbecause you maybe having other issues.
