Help Battery dies QUICKLY when you don't have cell coverage!

Yup, this is known issue on all phones (even my company Nokia dies after half a day with no reception-:).

Sort of.

I'm pretty sure android isn't that smart in dead zones, and in fact boosts the antenna power trying in vain to get a signal. It seems to be a much larger issue on smart phones than dumb phones, imo.
 
I didn't read the link so maybe this was covered but try turning off "always on mobile data" see if that helps save the battery a bit more. I have it disabled on my phone and go 7am to midnight with 30% left when I plug it in at night.
