Help Battery Discharges While Plugged In

Not Entitled
This one is a little weird. Note the attached screenshot. In the upper-right corner it shows the battery is plugged in. Now look below the phone name where it doesn't say "Charging 62%". Though plugged in, the phone just drains the battery away.

The details. It's plugged into a wall socket with a non-Nexus charger/cable. Extended battery is installed. This combination has been working fine since launch until a few days ago. The problem seemed to happen at home too but intermittently. Today, I can't get the damned thing to charge.

I have the original battery which I swapped in with the same result. I also have the remote charging dock so I'm charging my extended battery while I try to charge the phone.

Plugging in the phone results in the screen going on just like always. Unplugging the phone will also turn the screen on as it always has done.

I thought maybe some recent app is pounding the battery but the battery stats show: Screen 31%, Android OS 27%, Phone Idle 15%, Cell Standby 11%, Appstore (Amazon) 3%.... Nothing is leaping out to me as a battery hog.

Finally to close the loop, the battery is draining sitting on my desk, plugged in with the screen off, so it's not like I even have the screen on staring at it.

Any ideas?

What's the amperage output on the non OEM charger? The stock charger is 1000mA in the wall, USB is 500mA. I've found that if the phone is doing anything, 500mA barely keeps up even with the screen off. At work I have an OG Droid charger that is 850mA and that is low enough that I notice drastic charge time differences that at home on the 1000mA.

And unless I am using the phone, I always charge with the screen off.

I just looked. It's the charger from my DX and is rated 850mA.

Now here's an interesting development. I had to unplug the charger from the wall to get the specs. I plugged it back in and for a few seconds, the phone claimed to be charging. I wonder if my chargers are getting old.

Something an ohmmeter would let you know. I had a flaky USB cable with one of my chargers too, it would charge, but would not connect to my computer.

A further development: yanking the USB cable from the charger and plugging it into my computer charges the phone. I'm sure it's at a glacial pace, but it's charging. I need to find (a) replacement(s) for my wall wart(s).

Check amazon... they got some blackberry 1a chargers for $6. I got em all over and only had one die. But that one was the one that was prob charging at full power for around 18hours a day between my external batterys, phone, kindle fire, and whatever else i had to charge here and there.
