Help Battery Door Question

Has anyone got any idea what is on the inside of the battery door? There's a plate of some kind with two contacts on it. And there's two matching contacts on the phone itself. I thought at first it was a antenna of some sort. Today I saw a photo of the inside of a door for the HTC Thunderbolt and there's a similar plate with four contacts instead of two. Could the NS4G have the same wireless charging capability as the Thunderbolt or something very similar to it.

If you have a new-ish credit or debit card (with an NFC chip), tap the back of your phone to it, and see what happens.

Last night I set my new NS4G on top of my wallet and was pleasantly surprised. No real functionality yet, but I'm excited to see what comes.

Yeah, I found out it was the NFC antenna. But it does look similar to the wireless charging door of the Thunderbolt which does not have NFC.
