Probably the biggest issue, as Hadron noted. Nothing you can do about this.cell signal is hit and miss
i use 'mini info' app which tells me the battery 'usage' and this says display is the highest, however, since i updated to Gingerbread the 'history' wont show....

RE: the bad signal - have you tried setting the phone to GSM only?
At home I am surrounded by hills & get slightly erratic 3g signal, but great 2g (perfectly fine for calls & texts) and, like you, use WiFi so setting GSM only has no negative effects for me.
Just an extra thing you can try, even if it is only for 1 night to rule out the signal being part of the cause![]()
He stated that 3G is off. This would help if he had 3G data enabled, but the fact is the phone will try hard to maintain some type of connection to the cell tower in order to receive calls/text messages.
I wasn't talking about 3G/2G data, but the actual cell connection type. When set to 'Auto' my phone connects to the nearest 3G cell tower (which is a fair distance away) & gets an erratic signal hovering around 1 to 2 bars. When I set it to 'GSM only' it connects to one of the many 2G cell towers near to me & gets a permanent 'full' connection - it makes a noticeable difference to the battery life I get at home.He stated that 3G is off. This would help if he had 3G data enabled, but the fact is the phone will try hard to maintain some type of connection to the cell tower in order to receive calls/text messages.
