Help Battery drain

Hi everyone,
My Note has taken in the last 2 days to discharging after 5 hours. I've done the ICS update which is brilliant on many levels and so know that the major drain is caused by the exchange server. I use this for my hotmail, as on gingerbread it wouldn't sync any other way, and for my work email. My phone is awake almost constantly even though the screen is off and I've tried to kill all running apps in the task manager. As a result I've had to delete both accounts, it's now working perfectly, not too bothered about hotmail as I've managed to set that up through the regular email app but I have to use the exchange server for my work email, every time I add it back in the phone's awake all the time. Anyone else got this problem or a solution?

I've experienced higher battery usage on ICS.

However on the email is it constantly checking for new emails? If so thats your problem I guess? Strange if it was set up like this on GB and it was ok though?!

Thanks for your reply settings from GB exactly the same and it's been fine on ics since I did the download until mid tues. It's def the exchange, it seems to be ignoring my settings for when to check the server (was set at peak every 15 and off peak every hour) im guessing it's checking all the time as it's awake all the time but my data use hasn't risen. I've not changed anything or added any new apps so it's really odd and out of the blue.

Do you need to be notified of emails or are you happy manually checking?

If the latter, which I do then you can turn off Background Data in Accounts and sync.

Basically I check my mail now and then, more regularly if I am expecting something. I generally get a couple of days between charges (when not playing Draw Something a lot).



Otherwise, In account settings, you could also limit the period you are syncing down to 1 day so it is not pulling in loads of mails all the time. You can also set a per day peak schedule where it only auto syncs during the hours you set as peak,
