Help battery getting hot

It has happened spontaneously a few times lately when the phone gets very hot. I have normal programs opened, and once, it even happened when I was on "airplane" mode. The phone on my belt holder got so hot I was afraid of a first degree burn so I took it off, then shut t down. It wouldn't shut down in that it kept turning back on.

Besides feeling that the phone is possessed, does anyone have any explanation(s)?

Very odd. 1st thing I suggest is Turning Off GPS when not needed and also Turning on Power Save Mode.

How long has it been doing this and what apps have you recently installed?

Use cpu watchdog lite to look for rogue apps.

Use gsam battery monitor to look for other stuff

No recently installed apps., Power Save on, and GPS is off. Remember, it also has occurred when on Airplane Mode.

Still recommended. Especially the first one...watchdog task manager is the more correct name. Will alert you when a background app exceeds a specified percentage of cpu capacity
