Help Battery going dead after 4.2.1 upgrade

snsn

Lurker
I just upgraded my AT&T to 4.2.1 ... since the upgrade every morning the battery is dead.
It can be 60-70% and still drains down.

I run the task manager and shut everything down to make sure nothing is running.

Anyone else having this problem?

You need to make sure you uninstall all the updates on AT&T locker and other AT&T apps, and then disable them.

Sorry, but I'm not that fluent with these things...
how do I uninstall and disable the updates on these AT&T items?

Settings -> Application Manager
Go to the ALL tab
Now you see all your apps on the phone.

Go down to the app you want to disable
For example, AT&T Locker
Select it
Click Force Stop and then Uninstall updates
After that, go back and click Disable

Now when you go back to the ALL tab, you should see AT&T locker listed at the bottom as Disabled. AT&T locker is supposed to be really bad for battery after the update, so everyone should disable it. Not sure which other AT&T app drains battery.

I had att locker on without knowing and my battery was dead after 11 hours. Disabled all of that extra crap and the battery is once again amazing.

Gsam battery monitor will tell you what is draining your battery.

But definitely disable locker and smart wifi on ATT phones.
