Battery Indicator Pro Helps Battery

You should have the same amount in either case. The evo stops charging and runs on battery power only once the battery hits 100% that's why you get that instant battery drop when you unplug it. Weather its plugged in or not its running on the battery in both cases.
Actually that's not correct. Although hit hits 100% and stops charging it will automatically start charging again once it hits a certain percentage. Somewhere in the 90s. So its better to just leave it on the charger, imo, until you're ready to start using it. No point unplugging it just because it reaches 100% and you AREN'T going to use it. You'll get the same amount of battery drain whether its on the charger or not at that point.

So people...if you leave it on the charger until after it's done charging, just know that it won't necessarily still be on 100% b/c the battery has begun discharging already. DON'T FREAK OUT!!

The app given to us by Slick in this post lets you know an approximate time it hits 100% so if you wanna unplug u can do so.

There is also another app called Tasker that will notify you when it hits 100 with a sound or something. Tasker can do a lot more than that though. (great app) Search the forum.

Geez. You guys took the fun out of it. I was really looking forward to hearing Slick try to weasel his way out of this one.

LoL. ah. Slick is cool and his intentions were good.

But I think at the end of the day its ok to leave it on charger just KNOW it starts discharging at 100%

Slick has some good battery saving tips in a sticky somewhere in the Evo forums. Follow them.

You are causing the confusion. You have yet to explain why you must unplug it as soon as the light turns green.

Here are 2 scenarios that I would love you to explain:

I plug in my phone at midnight and the light turns green at 2 a.m. I don't need my phone at all until 8 a.m. when I wake up.

1. I unplug the phone right at 2 a.m. and let it sit on the dresser until 8 a.m.

2. I keep it plugged in until 8 a.m. at which point I take it off the charger.

After using the phone for 1 hour (it is now 9 a.m.), which scenario will leave you with the most remaining battery life?

I may be mistaken (probably am). But if I take my phone off the charger when it hits green, let's say that is right before bed, when I wake up I am only down 2 %. When I charge overnight, when I get the phone, it says 100% but drops to 90% really fast (checking email, FB, news) . The charger-to-full before bed scenario, I drop maybe 3 % max. I leave the house with 95% charge one way, 90% the other.

Just me experience.

I don't think your battery will discharge any faster whether its plugged in or not. So the drop should be the same. I would think it would be better if it stayed plugged in. When it reaches a certain percentage while plugged in, it will start charging again.

And 2-3% drop in 6-8hrs? C'mon son...

I have been using this app since I got my phone in june. Why insult people when you don't know what your taking about? Drop down the status bar and click on the batty app. Now a pop up comes up. Now press menu. Now go to settings then time settings. If you look you can set the discharge time for light, moderate, heavy, constant usages. You set the value anywhere from 45min to 98 hours. How does me setting a time value tell me when the battery will die. I could set it for 50 hours heavy usage but I'm not going to get it. You might want to look st what someone is talking about before insulting them.

I assume its because everyone will not see the same battery life based upon if a persons battery was initialized properly or not. Why would you mess with those settings anyway? They are clearly accurate in my opinion. I posted about 6 hours of heavy internet usage, but the app says I can go for 8 hours. I have never ran the battery fully down while on the internet

That's my point the app doesn't calibrate itself it's just a generic number that is automatically there. It doesn't adjust its just there. If it worked the way it should the numbers would change depending on what you were doing on the internet. For example I can get about 8 hours of heavy usage surfing the net and posting in forums but if I stream a movie with low signal I only get about 4 hours. If the app worked like you say it does the time left would change between those two scenarios but it doesn't. So I say again how is it useful when its not accurate?

Slick thanks for the tips link I actually followed those steps the day after I got my evo.....
However I did notice if I know I'm in a lowe coverage area I have been turning the mobile data aka internet aka 3g off and this has helped alot......

I looked again this morning. I went to bed with 98% and after 7 hours of non-use, turned on, display off, wifi "never sleep".....I woke up to 95%. 3% drop. Sometimes I've seen 5% but never more.

I expect the battery to discharge over night some, I have GMail set to auto-sync so my emails push through all night (10-20 or so?).

I don't know how to the the picture of your screen thing or I'd show you

This is just a display issue and it's identical to a lot of laptops.

Once fully charged, yes it runs off of the battery and then charges on/off at its trigger point - by consensus, the collective guess is that's around 92~93% or so.

But while that's going on - it says it's at 100% when it's really not. Once off the charger, it takes a short while to tell the truth of its charge.

Exactly like a lot of laptops.

As for that 2~3% drop overnight? Yep - I'll turn off all radios, use mine as my alarm clock (so - no sound unless phone or sms, meaning an emergency at those hours) - and shut down all apps and background data - and you can get it to reliably drain even less than than in a 6~8 sleep period.

No foolin'.

You guys forget a KEY point...

Because it says on the charger overnight... the constant current from the AC adapter heats up the battery... that along with the people who do keep their radios and syncing on causes the battery to do quite a bit of work, all while staying at that top percentile...

So the battery is hot when you unplug it in the morning... and did you know that when the battery is hot... it drains quicker**

Look it up. I'd say that is why we lose so much battery in the morning.
