Battery issues solved

It has nothing to do with factory reset, or hard reset. I started out with great battery performance, only to see it get worse. Reading the posts I finally decided to try the menu driven factory reset. Well, what do you know, it worked, for a day or two. Well, there is really nothing logical about a reset helping the battery. So after a week of having bad battery life i did the following as an experiment. I charged the battery fully. Then I cycled power off, (similar to a typical reset) and cycled power back on. Well, what do you know, battery life is much better. I think what basically happens is if you leave you phone on for day on in, over time, with the many apps running, etc, even will all the task killers, etc there are residual background tasks that suck battery life. A power cycle is the ultimate task killer. Anyway, my example. On Thur, phone off the charger at 7am, by noon I was at 60%, by the early pm i was at 30%, etc. Today, after the power cycle, phone is off charger at 7am, its now almost 10pm and I am at 50%, about the same usage. So, periodically, after a full charge, cycle power.

That's all. I will see what happens in the next couple of days. When the battery goes south, I will cycle power. By the way, looking at the task manager I dont see any less open apps today vs yesterday. So what ever drained the battery was probably some mode that was entered by the many operations I performed. A power cycle clears everything and gives you a fresh start. At least it worked on my phone.

i've had mine since day 1 and im at 90% still from unplugging it this morning...

granted i barely used it except for a couple short phone calls, several texts and some angry birds...

My on time right now is 162 hours since the last reset and I'm not having any battery issues. Still making it through a semi heavy day of use with 40%-60% battery left... Not using a task killer BTW...

I dont think you need to reset. if it happens again (battery performance bad) try just a power cycle. it worked like a charm for me. Also, usage varies from person to person. Saying things like, "many txts, a couple of calls doesnt help much. Here is how we should compare battery performances: I will start:

1 day 4 hours 4 minutes 44 seconds since unplugged
voice 37% 1 hour 1min 14 sec
phone idle 25% 1 day 1hour 26min 49sec
display 24% 2hours 38 min 20 sec
cell standby 10% (same as unplugged time)
bluetooth 4% (same as unplugged time)
wifi 3% 6hours 18min 48sec

I just went from 30% to 20%

If everyone posts the above specifics then we can truly compare.

<snip> So, periodically, after a full charge, cycle power.

Yep, works for me too. Actually, I have been doing this habitually with every phone starting with older PocketPC devices which were notorious for this issue. The app "Green Power" nets me another 20-30% due to effective wifi & push-service management. Cheers.
