Root Battery issues

So my battery has started doing this funny thing...once my battery goes under %15 or so it begins to die as if its at zero. I can charge it but as long as its plugged in and charging it will STILL NOT BOOT >:( ive tried unplugging it and it still acts dead! It only seems to work once ive charged all the way. Also ive begin to notice that my charger glows red when charging instead of orange. ??? Any ideas? Im running latest kernel on cm7 nighly #98

Edit: just checked acually the battery doesnt act dead it just freezes up as if the oc isnt stable, but i know it is, because when the device is functioning, it never locks up

Two problems with nightlies, and why I said I didn't recommend them:

SOD (sleep of death... doesn't want to wake up)
PBF (premature battery failure... Nook dies early. Sometimes battery level jumps a lot)

PBF supposed is under control for over a week now.

Things that might help:

  1. Always have NC fully charged when flashing rom
  2. Updating from B&N v1.2 seems to help.
  3. Wifi set to turn off when screen is off

Have you tried recalibrating the battery?

If your NC is run down to dead, it'll need to be charged for a bit before it'll come back. Possibly that's where you were at (red icon)... I've only been there once with my wife's. She's not good about details like that. :D

BTW, a new kernel came out today for nightlies that might improve deep sleep.

Thanks ill try these, also is the premature batt failure permanant?

No, the failure means the battery isn't accurate at the moment. It's reversible. :D

I think you had the SOD where you couldn't wake it up. Holding down the power button normally wakes it up, but in your case the low battery seems like it was also a problem.

I've never seen either of these, but I started out with 1.2 before installing CM7. Possibly you could flash the B&N stock 1.2 image (the one that replaces CWR) and then update that to the latest nightly. Of course that means a clean install.

Ok so ive flashed the new kernel, along with nightly #102 . Ive also wiped batt stats, ill report back if i get any success :D i wonder if anybody else has this problem?

Update: 3% battery and still going strong:D! Now for the reboot after drained battery *crosses fingers*

Update: no more freezes either! My nc is back 100% thanks dude!
