Help Battery keeps draining on Evo 4G

I see that app has the ability to show any wake locks.
Does it indicate any of those?
You said your signal was good right?
Is anything syncing too much such as Facebook, or calendars, or gmail, or stuff like that?
Or even a weather app syncing too often?

I'm really not sure how exactly I go about viewing wakelocks with this app. The closest I can think of is App Usage at the bottom, in which the battery monitor, LauncherPro, Android System, and the Dialer are the biggest consumers in that order. I do not have any accounts set to sync; I only sync manually.

hmmm, perhaps uninstall the battery monitor for the night and test your drain.
I am not familiar with that battery monitor app, but the app itself could be monitoring the system and draining it.
This just may be a process of elimination as Robobob and Tube said earlier.--a rogue app or wakelock

I know for a fact that it isn't this app because the draining was going on before I downloaded it. I previously had Battery Monitor Widget installed, but I got rid of it after suspecting it of having something to do with the drain. I could only guess that one of my most frequently used apps is responsible. I'll uninstall a few of my apps for the night and see how it goes.

FYI better battery stats can be found free in the xda forums if you're a member. Not gonna link it though you'll need to search yourself, as Mike said the store version is paid:p.
At the beginning someone suggested changing batteries, you tried that?
All the connection points are they clean? And what about the usb port that clean too? Could be your battery ain't fully charging.

Yes, I received another battery a few days ago because the person at the sprint store told me that my battery was defective. So far, there's barely an improvement. The connection points are clean and the USB port is slightly worn, probably from using the cable from my external battery charger.

I used to have it, but I recently got rid of it because it became too confusing to adjust for an extended battery (which also ended up being defective. It worked excellently for about two weeks, then battery life got worse from there. What is it with getting bad batteries?) I'll try it again so I can figure that out the mA usage.

So in the last few days or so, my Evo hasn't gotten any better with battery life. It continues to drain seemingly faster than it should even after fully charging it the night before. There is no indication that any of my apps have anything to do with it, and the only things showing up in my usage are Cell Standby (52%) and Phone Idle (48%). I'm beginning to feel like there's a problem with the phone itself :(

Could just be old age!
Under running applications in the application menu are there any running that you don't think should.

Something I used to do was go through the all menu and wipe data and cache of any I didn't use. And fc any as well.

What about rooting?

Okay, I've been trying to ignore the battery drain for the last few weeks or so in the hope that it will improve somehow, but now it's become even WORSE than before. I fully charged my phone each night for the last week, and every time I wake up, it's sitting at ~50%! What makes this even more frustrating is that I've barely even used my phone for anything besides several text messages! I just checked my usage, and my dialer was using up the most battery despite not having talked on the phone that day. At this point, I will just go back to the store and demand yet another replacement phone.

As for the previous points, old age definitely couldn't be a factor because I got this particular phone back in August, and the battery in October. And rooting I'm somewhat iffy on.

hmmm, well, if you decide to exchange it, then that is your decision..however, rooting is not as hard as you may think, and you will have great help over in the root forums if you decide to try it my friend.

Just read thru it if you desire to take the plunge :) We will be here for you!

Have you set your phone to auto sync? Can't remember if you mentioned it before.

And I'd say that on the evo root is your friend.

My main reason for not wanting to root is because of the whole 'void warranty' concern, and I want to make sure it doesn't detriment me as far as fixing future problems. Also, I never keep auto-sync on, so that isn't a problem. The drain seems to have something to do with the dialer because whenever I look at the usage, it's either the dialer, cell standby, or phone idle eating it up. Since I don't use the phone very often, this is very confusing.

How old is your phone? Rooting can void your manufacturers warranty, but that only lasts 1 year.

Sprint actually doesn't care if you root, and will still fix/repair the device if its still been rooted. It also doesn't prevent insurance replacement.

We can always unroot it and sprint will never know the difference anyway.

You don't have Facebook contacts sync'd then?
When you look in the apps with high drain what other apps or services are associated with it?

Have you tried clearing cache and force closing these apps? Last ditch attempt would be clearing data from these if there is any.

@robo, could his dialer be the wakelock? If so, without being rooted atm, how would he fix that? Download a dialer apk? A different launcher perhaps? Just throwing some stuff out there as he is a little hesitant to root. :)

Is difficult really to know exactly. I know there are a number of other services that are connected to each other that may be causing some kind of kernel or partial wakelock.
How much does Android Services drain? It might be an idea to look at the processes associated with it and then going to manage applications> all and closing any you think are unnecessary. Even wiping data if you have to.

You don't have a 3rd party task manger/killer do you or any anti virus app?

I think I'm crossing old ground, sorry if so.
