Root Battery life after root

Is it normal for the battery to die MUCH faster after rooting. I rooted to oxygen yesterday and now my battery drains fast enough I can literally watch it go down. I listen to Pandora while Im at work and before the root I could listen to it for 6 hours and still usually have between 25-50% battery left. I just have the phone in my pocket with the screen off and rarely touch it.

Last night I did the same as always. But suddenly about 3 hours into work the music stopped. I looked at the phone and it was powering off. The battery was at 100% when I got to work.

Is this normal? Is there something I can do to help with this?
 
It's not root that causes this, it's the ROMs, each has different battery life.

My Desire is on Redux I think. (its not been on in a while)
To better the battery life look at SetCpu.
 
That said, oxygen should be much better on battery than stock HTC sense roms so something is up there
 
One other question. (sorry total newbie on this) But Ive been trying to customize my homescreens as well with little success. When I hard press, then go to widget or shortcuts, a VERY limited list appears. Really nothing that I have downloaded.

For instance, I downloaded a new browser, FB, Pandora, and many other miscellaneous apps. Not a single one is on there.

So i pretty much have 6 blank screens aside from the one widget that came on 2 of the pages.

Any thoughts?
 
I had Oxygen for a good while and got good battery life out it, much better than stock sense Rom. Something up, rogue app perhaps, check battery usage for what's eating it.

What I dont understand is literally 90% of the battery drained while it was in my pocket (same scenario 2 nights in a row) with pandora playing while the screen was off. I actually did a battery pull right before I went into work to make sure i didnt have a bunch of programs running in the background draining the battery. Throughout the night my screen MIGHT have been on 20 minutes. The battery was at 100% when I walked in and powered off in about 3hrs 15min
