Help Battery Life After "SIM Fix" System Update

Ever since the last OTA update came through the battery life on my phone has really suffered. I used to put it on the charger at midnight and still have 20% battery life left. Now my phone dies around 6 PM every day. This is crazy! I haven't touched any settings or downloaded any new apps that I can think of.

When I first updated, my phone was dying around 2 PM. I did a factory reset which helped a lot, but still the battery life is not what it was. I looked at the battery usage page and Wifi is using a significant portion of battery life. Far more than it did before to the best of my knowledge. Also, looking at the battery history page, it seems the wifi and data services are keeping the phone awake constantly.

Anyone else have this problem or any suggestions on how to fix it?

Make sure "Best WiFi performance" is not cheked in advanced under WiFi.

Does that matter when wifi is turned off? Also, I've gotten the no sim card message more since the update than I did before. I've only had the phone a month and it's been about a week since I ran the update. In the three weeks I had the phone prior to the update I had 1 no sim error (it was on day two I think), since the update I've had 4.

I currently have 20% battery left. 40% of the battery was used equally by the OS and wifi. Can't believe how bad the battery has been lately.

My battery life is pretty much the same, which was really good. No issues here with sim card. Havent had one once with this phone somehow.

I've not had a sim card issue with my phone either. After the update, my battery life has really gone downhill. Late Friday/early Saturday it died during the night. It was fully charged when I left work at 5 pm. The phone showed that it had a really low signal, so I'm hoping that's why. However, I used to be able to go from Friday (fully charged at 5) until late Sunday morning without a charge. I can't do that now.

What does does your phone say is using all the battery? The culprit was my phone seems to be the wifi. It uses a significant percentage of the battery.

I turned off "remember location" in the Maps settings, and my battery declined normally over night. The previous night, my battery went down to 22% overnight. Hopefully that takes care of my battery issue!

FWIW my battery took a hit right around the time of the OTA, though I think it was actually slightly before. I had to uninstall Facebook updates and revert back to a 1.9 APK that I found on XDA somewhere. That seemed to do the trick, I've had no issues with my battery since.

Just something to try out if you're still experiencing bad battery life.

Now that I've got a new DNA again since geek squad couldn't get me a refurb in a reasonable amount of time, I'm a bit reluctant to download the latest sim fix update. The update made what wasn't a problem into one on my old phone (before i dropped it and cracked the screen).

For me it was turning off "Messenger Location Services" in Facebook. Power usage was showing that the Maps app was the biggest drain, but it' was actually Facebook Messenger using the Maps location service that was the culprit.
