Help Battery Life and Charging

Ok after my first day fully using metro for everything. I'm use to phone with crappy battery life but this one take the cake.

I'm coming from an Evo 4g which has Crappy battery but a 500ma charger works just fine. I can use it to navigate and talk at the same time and it actually chargers the phone a little bit.

This phone with the same charger and the same mount of use will only allow me to use my phone but after i unplug it, It say battery too low and will turn off. had to leave it with a 1a car charger. i got maybe like 10%.

For does that done know the higher the Ampts on the charger the faster it will charge, but you have to be careful, because if you apply too much you may damage the battery (explosion) and also charging it faster kills the lithium cells.

My question to someone that knows about battery is can i use a 2.3a charger to this with out damage to the phone or battery.

as far as i know the phone should only pull the amount of power it can handle according to the USB spec.

I would do it with the battery charger and battery, not the phone. if something does go wrong your out a battery and not the phone as well.

Man i did a test today and MY GOD IS THIS PHONE A BATTERY PIG. I'm here thinking that my Evo was a pig. this thing ran out of battery in about 6hr. I unplugged and maybe about 1hr of talk and this was while using setcpu to clock the CPU at 200/200 when the phone screen if off and this is all i got. what are you guys getting out of this phone before running to a charger. great phone and all but damn 6hr. this is pretty week.

Six hours out of 1500 is 250ma. Id say thats pretty low draw considering what the phone can do. LTE, vibration and screen brightness are the highest power usage by far. The cpu clock mods dont really help, especially since it sits at 100mhz most of the time youre .ot touching it.

My screen is set to the lows possible setting and the phone is never set to Vibration. The LTE part on the other had i wish i can turn it off as the stuped 4g from metro seems to be down all the time.

Haptic feedback is enabled by default. Does the phone buzz when you hit keys?

No i shut all that down. I come from the Evo, so this are lessons Learned.

I don't know if any of you can confirm this for me, but after turning off the GPS i get A LOT A LOT more battery then i did while leaving it on. It seems like this phone is always trying to get a location. While on Evo it only use the GPS when a Application is requesting it. after turning the GPS off and only turning it back on when i need it Like when i use the Google NAV the battery last a lot longer. i will try a sit around test this weekend. like i did last week.

I cant really gauge a battery use, because I run a Technology Service Company (Working Boss) and drive all the time and use it as a Nav and we all know non of this phone will last while naving around. So i maintain it plugged in while in the car and even if I'm not NAVing i still keep it charging (old habits did this for as long as i can remember HTC pro 2 also sucked when it come to battery).

Yah i totally forgot that it really doesn't matter, what matter is the voltage you apply, but after using the 1a charger, I can do Nav, talk and the phone actually take a charge. I have a Battery app the displays the status of the battery and the phone chargers between 216ma - 267ma (280ma has been the highest i have seen.).

The name of the App is
Battery Monitor widget.

It give you a history of your charging and discharging.

If you have any cut or better cut, you can also find this information by creating a shortcut to the hidden activity: Battery Status. It lists current battery voltage, temperature, level, and charging amp/current if charging.

Havent had any problems with the charger and using at the same time. Still getting charge while streaming music with the screen lock on.

As for being a power pig, yes this phone is one.
