Battery life is absolutely amazing

I did this last night and it has made a major difference on my battery life. Just make sure you backup your information using Lookout or Titanium Backup (both are available in the market). Then go to menu> settings> privacy> factory data reset.

you have to re-download all your apps then though, right?

Yes you do. Just use Appbrain and create a list of the apps you have installed. Then after the restore, reinstall Appbrain, login and all your apps will be listed for you to reinstall.

okay. a few more questions.

the pics and vids i've taken with the evo, they are stored on the sd card in the phone, right? will a factory reset wipe them from the card? do i need to take the card out before the reset?

i'm only getting about 8-10 hrs from my phone with all the settings adjusted and VERY light use.

No, they will not be deleted.

well just to give some perspective I'm on my pre now and about an hour of reading this site and one 5 minute phone call took me from 100% to 68% on my pre. I can't wait to get the EVO!

My phone has been unplugged for 23 hours and now has 35 percent of battery life left.
This is with Fresh 0.2 rom, setcpu reducing cpu to 245mhz at sleep/standby/screen off, twitter/gmail/weather/facebook updates running and no 4G.
Its seen some light to moderate usage with voice calls, sms, twittering, browsing as well as few minutes of video recording

I'll just follow up with an overview of my settings.
GPS/4G off, Wifi is on when in area with WiFi(about 10 hours out of 27 so far), screen medium brightness. CDMA auto prl trick enabled, and my time without signal is about 10%. Facebook syncs once a day, Twitter every 4 hours, Stocks every 4 hours, Weather every 4 hours, Gmail is manual.

No root. No rom's.

I do use Advanced Task Manager to kill off Sprint apps that auto load, and occasionally to kill certain tasks.

As of now my battery usage looks like this:
1d 2h 46m 49s since unplugged
Cell Standby: 38%
Phone idle: 29%
Wi-Fi: 15%
Android System: 15%
Display: 3%

Battery % is....
66%

So you leave the phone off most of the time, right?
And when I say off I just mean the screen is not on, as in no games or videos.

I unplugged my phone an hour ago from the charger and I had 4G on for a few minutes, surfed a few pages, and am now at 86%. THERE IS A BATTERY ISSUE. Heck, with all the radios off I went from 100% to almost 90% in minutes.

There's a battery conditioning thread going on several places. Basically, charge to green LED, unplug it, plug it back in til green again, repeat ten times. The beliefe is that there is more than one cell in the battery, so if one cell is at 100% and the other one is at 95%, it's going to report 100% until you unplug it. Doing the topping off thing balances/conditions the battery.

How do you turn off all the radios? My god doing that and using ATK the batttery should last for a damn long time.

There are widgets you can add to disable/enable radios on the fly.
Pick a desktop and long press some blank space > widget > settings > 4g/wifi/bluetooth/gps/mobile network (I personally don't use the mobile network widget because this one can be accessed by long pressing the power button)

Here is where I am so far today. I find that when I am getting poor cell reception at home, leaving wifi on drains the battery less (I work from home). I have exchange and gmail accounts that have push delivery, and I received about 50 emails today.

I use ATK but not the Overclock hack (actually tried it and feel it doesn't work).

Just a quick tip about hard reset... when i called Sprint they had me do a hard reset and suggested to REMOVE THE SD CARD. They said it could mess up the SD card. Just FYI.

I too am a former Pre owner and now having great susses with the EVO. I do not have 4G in my area, don't do gaming, but heavy email, text, some browsing, and moderate phone use. From the time the phone is unpluged in the morning 6am, I average 30% when I plug it back in at 11pm. I can say that I have noticed a great improvement with the use of the "advanced task killer" by Rechild with auto kill set to aggressive, kill frequency set to when screen is off. 2 other friends running this way having great results as well.

Also use wifi as much as possible, but bulk of usage is 3G, speeds average 1.4 down, and 700 up.
