Root Battery life- is this normal?

Newbie
My battery is at 63% and has been off the charger for 3 hours. I've read a few blogs, looked st Facebook, replied to a few short messages and made a two minute call. It says that 69% of usage is the display but the brightness is set on the low end. Cell standby is at 9%, phone idle 7% and the rest is minimal. I'm currently running Mike 2.1. Does this seem right to y'all?

It a little on the abnormal side to me. It seems like your display may be holding a wake lock. Just reboot into recovery and wipe cache/dalvik cache and that should fix you right up.

I'm running the same ROM and been off the charger for 15 hours and am currently at 94%. I have underclocked my kernel w/ a screen off profile set at 245/245 which is helping only very little. The big battery savers are turning auto-brightness off and setting it to about 40%, turning auto-sync off and to manual, and keeping data (3g) turned off unless I need to browse, send email, or MMS message. Keep in mind that you can still make/receive voice calls and send/receive SMS messages while data is turned off.

That seems normal. How long were you browsing the net for? Were you using 4g? Browsing the net for a decent amount of time can be a battery hog.

I wasn't using 4g but I read three fairly short blogs, one news site, looked at engadget news and Cnet. That's not counting Facebook. Maybe it is normal.

How do I turn off 3g?

I'm more interested in seeing how long you were doing those things rather than what you did when you were browsing.

Menu>settings>wireless networks>mobile network

Also if you're running a new sense 2.1 ROM you can just pull down the notification bar>quick settings and turn off data from there as well.

Thanks Frenchy! It's hard to say how long as it wasn't all done at once. I would say around 30 minutes total if that. Anyway, instead of turning off the automatic sync and 3g could I just turn off the 3g with the same result? That way I'm only having to turn one thing off/on.

I think that seems a bit high on drain. My current uptime is 5h19m. I have made 11 minutes of phone calls. I've read several emails and sent/received about a dozen text messages using GO SMS Pro. I was on the internet for maybe 5 minutes total (yahoo finance). I am also running battery monitor widget in the background to monitor usage. I'd say my screen brightness is set about 30-35%.

I am currently at 83% and I'm running Mik 2.1 (latest). I did a full flash using Amon and used calukin's format all before flashing the ROM. I only restored games and installed everything else by hand. I don't have facebook at all (removed the app) so I'm not synching that...

You only have to turn off automatic-syncing off once and the setting change will remain. I would implement all the settings changes, reboot to recovery and wipe cache/dalvik cache and see how your battery does for a whole day. If you're still experiencing poor battery life, do a full wipe and reflash your ROM.

I will give all of that a try.

Thanks! What battery widget do you use?

It's called "Battery Monitor Widget" and is by 3c. I am using the free one. I'm going to run it for a few days and see what it has to say... It really doesn't provide a whole lot more than stock. Spare parts would, but it doesn't seem to work with sense roms completely....

I believe you can enter a code in the dialer and get usage details from every app similar to spare parts. I'll see if I can find the code and come back and edit.

Edit... I've been using my phone quite a bit today. I'm now at 13 hours of up time and 2 hour, 21 minutes of "awake time". I have made 45 minutes of calls, browsed forums for about 15 minutes on 3G. Updated 3 apps totaling about 35 megabytes using 4G, GPS/Nav for about 5 minutes to find a building nearby. The screen has been on for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes. I've sent a bunch of texts and several emails. I've played around with settings a bit. Battery is currently at 42%...
