What do you mean it shows it running? Since gps is all sorts of wonky on the Vibrant, it could be you opened up maps or some such and when you clicked back or home, it wasn't done trying to find your location and thus the icon stays up. Reboot the phone for one thing to just make it simpler, and two, from the drop down notification bar, turn gps off.
And yes live wallpaper will use more power then some image, but i can't say how much.

I highly recommend you install the Power Control shortcut bar, it's very easy and then you can disable all the more draining services affecting your battery.
To use the Power Control shortcut bar:
1.
From the Home screen, touch
and hold an empty area until
the Add to Home screen menu

I got Tmo to swap my Behold II for the Vibrant.
Anyways, rync888, deleting stuff like slacker requires you root your phone. But the easiest way would be to go read this thread for info: http://androidforums.com/samsung-vibrant/147852-root-eugenes-vibrant4-lag-fix-amazing.html
They use BHMAN/Eugene's rom that has alot of the preinstalled programs removed.

It's built into the phone. You'll find it if you long press a blank space on the home screen, then when the menu pops up hit Android Widgets.

If you prefer buying multiple batteries or a charger/battery combo deal try searching for "battery Samsung Vibrant" - you will get lots of options.
i think most did the same. my vibrant will be in my hands end of next week.
for the OP also for battery life on any dimness sensor phone turn of the auto feature as it jacks your battery and is not like in a laptop where that sensor uses a fraction of a percentage of the total usage.
with my behold (after the 1.6 update stole my battery) i learned to use the power control to turn stuff on and off and use 2g/3g widget to turn it to 2g overnight when i sleep.

Once the gps gets fixed, I'll buy my first app, Locale. I remember when it was free and it was an awesome app, until it would cause the Behold II to reboot lol, the good ol' days
doode, my buddy has got the vibrant and was complaining about the GPS, i took a look and it was just a tad slower to lock on the the behold.
so the GPS cant be that much worse than the beholds GPS slowness can it?

Oh its not that its slow, its that it doesnt plain just know where you are. complete fubar. It sorta works when I'm home and within my wifi as it can use that to help locate, but when I'm out and about, forget about it.

Yep, mine can be slow occasionally (it might take up to a minute to locate me on the rare occasion). But it works perfectly as far as getting me from point A to point B and pinpointing my location on Google maps.
Some peoples' Vibrants have GPS that is completely useless. They can't navigate or geolocate on Google Maps. Samsung is aware of this and a fix is forthcoming next month. I'm not in the least concerned.

I am a new android user and on I have had my phone for a week now and the battery is still the same. its pretty bad for my liking. this what i had running. twitter widget updating evert 5 mins. a facebook widget updating every 30 mins. a pandora widget. live wallpaper screen timeout 15 secs. screen at its dimmest all the time. ohh and facebook wasnt always log on but for the most part it was. twitter was always logged on i never have bluetooth,gps,or wifi on and i got about 5 1/2 hours with this. i want to know if this is just me using the phone way too much to expect better stuff or if it is just my battery and if you are getting way better battery explain what you have running it would really help me out.
now i have mad some changes to what i do but i still dont get much more battery and to me it feels like it is taking away from the android experience that i have in my head haha. i am new to android so please take it easy on me.

Your main problem will be twitter updating every 5 min and facebook every 15 min. Unless you really need those to update so frequently, I would set it higher, maybe something like 1 or 2 hours apart if you're worried about missing a tweet or status update. Also, your battery life will depend on how ofte you're using the device in those 5.5 hours. If you have 2 hours of use on it, that mixed with a live wallpaper and frequent data transmissions will use the battery quicker than otherwise. The problem you're experiencing is due to the fact that this is such a beast of a device, with its 1GHz processor and super AMOLED screen, that 1500mAh batteries just can't power it for as long as, say, a less powerful device such as a BlackBerry. Buy an extra battery and charge the device whenever you can and you should be happier with your "android experience".

Justin has a good response for you and I would add that you might want to make sure that you aren't in a fringe 3G area. If you are, and your device is constantly "looking" for a 3G tower then it will consume quite a bit of charge while doing so. In this case, you are better off disabling 3G until you get into a better reception area.
