Root Battery life/resources following Root

As for battery life, mine has been less than respectable as well. Pretty much minimum brightness, Wi-Fi off when not needed, and the rest of the settings the same as I had on my DX.

Since we now have root, how can I shut off "DDRROID" that plays on start up?

EDIT: About 8 mins. ago P3Droid posted a tweet saying... "Hey D3 users, I have something real special coming for you..." Guesses?

Did you guys find a way to make battery life better? Also how is the wireless tethering going?

Actually, if you use a program like autostarts you can disable apps from starting up.this should translate into a little more battery life. Many apps turn on for different events, especially ones you don't want.

already 9:45 am and my battery is getting raped (50%), granted, there is no signal at work, and I forgot to put my phone on airplane mode, but it usually isn't this bad...

4Hrs of being unplugged and my battery shows 78% charged. Not bad. At this yesterday it was around 40%. =-)

Did this this morning. Used the one click method. Removed bloat, took some screens. I already notice an improvement in performance after removing the bloat. Could be a placebo effect though. Definitely a good time though.

I just wanted to say that now that i have removed bloat, i went back to using the Blur app drawer. Its quite sexy without bloat. Still using LPP as my home though.

Edit-
Oh yeah. 75% after 11 hours =]

Yeah, I'm also finding the batter/resource improvement to be on a par with other devices I've rooted. I honestly thought it might not be the case, given the fast processor and non-removable stuff (Blur) in the D3.

It is starting to look like two days of use per charge, at this point.

I wish I could have this kind of battery life. What exactly did you remove and do to get this kind of life from your battery?

Post root report:

1. For battery, not much difference if any, but was already getting good battery life.

2. The auto run apps appear to be placebos and do not seem to really do anything besides cause more polling for that app to try and stop other apps. Thing is, the auto apps I tried (and noted in the thread) do not stop any of the apps listed as disabled. Not one of them. I would call it snake oil sales, but the apps are free.

3. The memory app does not appear to be a placebo, since I show about 50mb more free ram than usual and the overall UI seems smoother. I had no issues with it before, but I do notice the improvement. Please keep in mind I came from the Incredible and DX2, of which both had issues (my sources for comparison are low).

Nice to have Titanium back! :)

Right now there is no recovery, roms or kernals(no overclocking)to flash. Just download Titanium Backup/Titanium Backup Pro, Root Explorer and Setcpu from the market. TB will allow you to backup apps and system data. It will also let you uninstall/freeze apps and bloatware. Root Explorer will give you access to system files and sdcard. Setcpu will allow you to underclock and set battery saving profiles.

I hope that helps.

Define bloatware please. Also, i downloaded titanium backup but upon startup it says error, can not find root superuser permission or no busybox. Im rooted and have su so im assuming its busybox. I looked in there titanium wiki about busy box and wtf?! You have to download android sdk then download android ndk and write some scripts for building the busybox?! That's beyond me, is that how you really have to do it?

(this is just a bump, as I'm culling battery life/resources posts from the big "Root achieved.." thread and have created this new Battery life thread)

I beg to differ. Autostarts works as stated, you must not be using it right or not have used it ady all. It doesn't even poll, it is similar to a registry editor on windows and edits the trigger rules that enable apps to turn on. I'm a fresh freak about what's running on my phone. It definitely works and does effectively stop 95% of the apps you disable. I have found that dlna service is tricky to disable, and one other service, camscan. I believe there are unknown triggers as the app itself hides things it doesn't understand, but you can view those as well but those are more complicated to mess with. If you it have questions on that app is be happy to help, I've used it on my 2 of my rooted eris, 1 rooted fascinate, 1 rooted incredible and now 2 D3s, and the majority of the apps I've disabled won't turn on without being manually called upon. The trick is not just setting the autosatart setting but all the other triggers. View it by app, that's you optimal setting. You`ll thank me later if you go back and mess with it.

Oh last thing, autostarts is NOT a task killer so it isn't always running its a one time set it and never look back. And it doesn't turn on again unless you install or update an app and go back to check the settimgs again. Some updated apps do reset their auto run triggers. Do keep that in mind.

Maybe the problems is the app being used, since as posted above, the version I was using is not called autoruns. You keep wording the same exact way, so is there an app called autoruns?

BTW, not sure Android can behave in the manner you suggest and keep apps out of the registry stack all the time, since if the apps are being controlled that way, they will become part of the active eco-system once you use one of the apps (how could it manage once they are opened, unless it was polling?). Any listing of the script commands so I can see the process? I will halfway understand it ;)

Thanks

The app is specifically called, autostarts. Well worth the money. You should be able to try it and know if it works within the return period of the market. Be sure to reboot after you make all your adjustments. As it doesn't fully take affect until you reboot.

I honestly haven't taken the time to figure out what file it's actually writing to. But im sure someone with more time on their hands could figure it out and write a free script, but there are a crap load of lines to write to from the looks of it and most apps have an event trigger so it would be annoying to manually do it, hence id rather pay someone to help simplify it.

on my d2g , after root, i was able to use an app called setcpu that really helped with battery life. was able to slow things down as battery life went down to save some juice. is this app available for the d3? Or something similar?

1D 12H 50M and I'm at 20% currently. I removed bloatware, and i still use Task Killer frequently. I have it set to stop syncing at the night times hours after 15 minutes of no activity.
