Battery Life ?

Is the battery life on this phone really as bad as reviews and some people say it is?

Trying to decide between X and Incredible, and everything I read says the X's battery is WAY better. Is this true...or propaganda.

Yes, it is that bad.

I tried the X for a few days a few weeks back, and the battery was better for me, but I use the 1750 in my DI and it works well. Rooting and having better control of what sucks at your battery is good, too. IMO, DI>X overall, even with a slight stock factory battery advantage to the X.

The Seido 1750mah battery fits pefectly with the stock cover. That and a few tweaks here and there (turn off bluetooth or wifi when not in use, etc) and you should be fine.

Yep. And download Y5, and really dig into your settings to optimize your battery. It can be done. But you will want the 1750 at a minimum. Anything biger, yes, requires a bigger cover.

I use the 1500mah battery, which cost a whopping $15. I really don't think it's that bad, even when I wasn't rooted. If you need the extra time, spend a little more for the 1750 (or larger). Given that there are all kinds of deals around for DInc's, the extra cost of the battery is worth it.

I use the stock battery and am a moderate to heavy user and my battery lasts all day. I'll just charge it on my way home from work and I'll be good till I go to sleep. The battery charges at about 1% a minute.

Best Buy has a 1750 mah battery for 50 bucks for the Incredible. It gives me very comparable battery life to what I had on my stock Captivate (which is pretty good).

The 1750 battery should be a required purchase when you get the phone, along with a case and possibly a Zagg. Keep the red one with your box in case you sell the phone later.

OP. The whole battery thing is blown out of proportion. This happens with every smartphone released. Most people should know by now that battery life on a heavily used smartphone is going to be shorter.

I got two days out of the stock battery. About 20-30 minutes of calls each day, some lite internet browsing, checking the time on the hour and checking MYVERIZON all day long. LOL The thing is EVERY smartphone is going to have bad battery life if you use it for more than just making calls. If people are getting a half day to one day they are using it for heavy web browsing and game playing etc, bottom line, no excuses. Any electronic device that you are playing with for 6 hours total in the day is going to kill the battery.

No matter what anyone says the battery is on par with what you would get with ANY smartphone. So for a smartphone the stock battery on the INC isnt bad, especially considering they put a weaker battery in there in the first place. It should have gotten the 1500 standard.

I've noticed that when froyo came out the battery life was improved although the charging time was much longer. Since this last BS update that was sent out the battery is as it was previous to froyo, which equals shit!

True, battery life sucks. Get the X. Need a link to their forum?

No, I jumped straight from the Captivate to the Incredible, and the latter had a noticeably shorter battery life. The 1750mah battery is about par for the course, and doesn't affect the phone's thickness.

What Im saying is that with the weaker battery they give for the incredible its not doing bad. Its getting about what it should with that battery. The incredible was packed with a weaker battery than what it should have been. The captivate has a 1500 battery the incredible has a 1300. With the 1500 the incredible should be in the realm with any other cell phone.

The 1750 mah battery is about the same at the oem 1500 battery. Its probably better to get the oem 1500. The cheaper aftermarkets dont seem to last as long as oem.

OP. Dont let the battery issue scare you away. Get the larger battery and you should be ok.

I use both. Here's my extremely unscientific impression using similar apps and usage styles:

Droid X stock battery easily lasts me all day (8am-midnight), with 30%+ remaining when I go to bed at midnight and plug it in. On a heavy usage day it will be dying by 6pm.

Incredible with 1500mah battery is lucky to last me until 6pm before it's gone. It's even worse on the stock battery. Even on its best day it lasts until maybe 11pm before throwing out the 5% warning. On a heavy usage day, it's toast by maybe 2pm. It's amazingly bad and I don't know why. I ONLY use dark backgrounds (best for AMOLED) and no push services except for gmail.

Wow that's really bad. I have 4 emails address that have instant push, I use mp3 for at least an hour every day half thru earbuds the other half streaming bluetooth. I use GPS 1-2 times a day. Probably about an hour of talk time a day, maybe 100 texts , lots of internet use, at least 30minutes o fwireless teather, I always have wifi, 3g, on and screen brightness always at max . And like I said above I get 20-30hrs (1500mah battery. I rarely use my stock battery but last time I did it died with similar use at 16hrs ) , it's much better then my fascinate which wouldn't even get me to 6pm on the stock battery.

I'm not really sure why HTC put the 1300 in this phone when they used the 1500 for the TP2, Hero and the EVO which uses the red colored battery. Makes no sense to me

My stock battery was awful. Verizon sent me a replacement and the new one is much better. Since froyo, my battery life is better and since the update, my battery charges quicker.

I dont get through the day on one charge but I use my phone a ton. I either plug it in at work or in the car for a little bit and charge at night. I keep emergency batteries at home and in my car (bought 2 1500s for $10 on ebay) but I have only used them once since Verizon sent me a new stock battery.

I use my phone as my home phone, music player, games, and more and I honestly think I could get close to full day on one charge but I never let it get that low (except a few times when I had no choice).

Folks, battery life could be better, but I dont think it should be the deciding factor. Intelligent charging for MOST people makes it a non-factor.

The X is too big for me. It is an excellent phone. I like Incredible better even if the phone were same size but that is only personal preference.

New DI user here, just switched from Storm to DI. First thing I noticed was the abysmal battery life. Went from a couple of days on one charge to 4-5 hours on a charge. That is fixed now. Not sure which change did it, but #1 and the most obvious was looking at my apps. Quite a few prevent phone from sleeping, installed ATK, big help there, #2 rooted (partially) went through the process and it said completed and have super user installed, but wont go to recovery, just the white bars on screen. Phone is less than a week old so I assume Verizon has made some changes. So really the only change I beleive made is now S-off. #3 Background data Off, If an app needs it I turn it on, then back off when done. Tried the battery bump, didnt seem to really do much, would not start charging again until I had actually run the battery down, then only re-charged for a few minutes. regardless I am now at 13.5 hours up time with 1.5 hours awake and still at 80% life on stock battery, of course still testing, will try some heavy use today and see what I get, but I am not nearly as dissapointed and regretfull of my switch decision.

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Please, get rid of this. It seems like its working because you probably have a bad app. Download SystemPanelLite Task Manager - Android app on AppBrain so you can see what is running a lot and manage from there. Also, read this
Android Task Killers Explained: What They Do and Why You Shouldn't Use Them

I will check it out, thats why I posted, thanx for the links... I have heard both good and bad about ATK but figured the trade off, one app running as opposed to multiple was worth it.

What he said. Mine got better over time.

Just turn off the buzzing keytouch and all the syncs you don't need (stocks, news, etc). Turn off bluetooth unless you need it. I run 3g and wifi all the time and can do 24 hours, but I charge it every night (it's my alarm clock) on my nightstand. I never give battery life a second thought.
