Battery life

I hope I didn't reinvent a wheel someone else has already made, but I was getting terrible battery life recently and I discovered that if you turn off both...

Setting --> Accounts & Sync --> Background data and Auto sync

it improved my battery HUGELY. In addition, I still get my Twitter feeds updated every hour via the Launcher pro widget which apparently overrides the functions listed above.

Well it does help with the battery, but it beats the purpose of a smartphone. Personal choice.

Because of that ^^^ the suggestion is less a "tip" than it should be, so moved out of the Tips and Tricks sub-forum.

I save a bit of battery life by manually syncing at will, but turning off both autosync and background data does render the device something else.

I have never had bad battery life I guess. I don't see what people are whining about. It is made to "stay connected" at all times. If you disable everything then why not go back to a dumbphone? I didn't mean that to sound bad I just don't understand since mine seems to work as intended.
