Help Battery Life

I just updated from a iPhone 3gs to an Atrix. Because of hardware issues (fingerprint scanner), I returned it and paid the extra $100 and got the Infuse. Love the phone, but the battery life it terrible. Today the battery was at 100% at 0600 when I took it off the charger. Now it is down to 40% at 10:30. A couple of phones calls and texts. Nothing complex. Is this normal? Am I making another trip to AT&T to return this phone too?

First and foremost you need to read up on this phone as there are a lot of features and is much different from the iphone. I myself switched from the iphone to the infuse and I'm very happy in doing so. Before making any decisions also you should have searched battery life on this forum and you would have gotten a lot of answer as this topic has been covered on battery power preservation.

This phone's battery is not as good as the iphone HOWEVER you can do a lot to make it through the whole day with lots of usage.
Out of the box your phone has your brightness set to automatic adjustment. Turn that off and keep your phone around 20-30% at all times unless you need to adjust it quick if your outside and if you're at work and aren't going to use it that much keep it lower at like 10%.
I don't remember if the task manager is preset on your home screen, but if it's not do it b/c that saves you battery life. After you open a program and close it, it will keep running unless you force close it under task manager and that includes texting. Just about anything you open.
You may also go to the android market and download a better task killer app. They have some free ones and also some cheap ones. Just read up on them and see which is best for you.
Also if you have live wallpapers that will kill your battery faster also. It's cool to have but don't use if you're without a charger for a long period of time.

also if u have alot of widgets that update automatically like weather..it will eat up your battery..right now i have everything set to my liking and my phone lasts easy 12 hrs..and thats with moderate to light heavy use. and trust me..the atrix battery wasnt great either..i had two of them and they both sucked.

that is extremely NOT normal. I had a similar problem, but not that bad. Get an app called SystemPanel. With it, you can monitor all system usage. I was able to pinpoint what was going on. With the help of the dev, I figured out that one of my issues was a program that was activated by the accelerometer... and it was accessing it all the time, even in sleep mode.

With the kinks worked out, my battery will last all day with moderate usage.
