Help Battery Life

I have a Samsung Galaxy 550...I'm noticing that my battery doesn't last very long! Checked my settings and stuff and it shows that "cell standby" is using 72% of my battery life...Is there any way I can reduce this and make my battery last longer as the other things that are using up battery life are "phone idle" at 21% and "display" at 2% and "android system" at 2%.

Cell standby refers to the power used by your phone antenna.

If you click on it, does it give you a percentage of time without signal? If not, that's good.

Usually if you are in areas with low reception like big buildings or rural areas, this will burn through your battery pretty quickly as it's boosting your signal to try and find, or stay connected to, the network.

Yes it does...50%! I live in a rural area, so I guess that does make sense...I'll have to see what the difference is when I'm in the city! Thanks for your help! :)
