Help Battery life

Okay, so I know that the HTC Desire S has a pretty horrible battery life.

But recently, my battery has gone downhill.
I leave it there for 3 hours, with everything turned off and nothing in use, and it still wipes out 30% of the battery life.
When it's plugged in, the battery life still decreases. I was on the phone with the HTC plugged in, and within half an hour the phone died.

Is anyone else having this problem?
Should I find another battery or is there something else wrong with my phone?

I was advised to fully discharge the battery (let it totally die) then over charge ( leave it over night) three times.

This did improve my battery life.

Didn't do anything for the poor signal problem though.

Compared to the Desire I find the battery life excellent, sorry. Judging it by display time as an indicator of how long it is actually used, I'm getting 5 hrs display where before I used to get 3hrs. See my other posts.
