Battery Life

Another thing to look into....

WiFi settings>advanced

There's a box to have scanning for wifi networks always available, even when you have wifi "off"

Uncheck that if you aren't using battery saving mode for location. :)

Oh yes I forgot about that, I also turned that off.

Okay so I may be only at 2 hours and 40 minutes on battery but 2 hours and 8 minutes of that is screen on time and I still have 66%, which is not much less than your 17minute screen time drainage. Hope the setting changes yield these results for you.

I don't know about the Nexus, but with my Hydro after uninstalling all the Google garbage (except for Gmail) my battery life has improved drastically.

For those who still seem to be getting inordinately high battery usage from Google Play, someone on Rootzwiki suggested downloading App ops from the play store, and disabling the "Keep Awake" feature for Google Play Services under the "Device" tab. I'm trying it for the first time today, so I don't have any data for myself yet, but he was reporting and extra couple of hours of battery life every day without any drawbacks that he could see.

Just something to try.

App ops is a huge improvement with 4.4

I'm testing which location permissions from google to kill so I can still leave it on but not have such high drain.

The wake lock function is just like having greenify, but for non-rooters

Doh! I just realized Greenify is an app. I kept seeing people say they were greenifying their phones and I thought they were just being fancy about all the settings changes they made.:o:D

Just thought I'd post an update after changing some sync settings!

I do see an improvement, I'll be editing some more settings later!

I see two App Ops in the play store. There is App Ops Starter, and App Ops 4.3/4.4 KitKat. The latter saying that ROOT is required to install but not to use. Which one did you install?

Hello All,

Sorry for posting on a wrong thread, but it is not allowing me to start a new thread :(

With so much eagerness I bought a Nexus 5 Phone last week. But within a couple of days, I was very very very disappointed by the battery life. Feature wise or all other aspects, the phone is great, no doubt. But battery life is miserable. Doesn't even last for one full day of medium usage.

Does anyone noticed similar battery performance?
