Help Battery not charging but solid orange light is on?

I have had my HTC Desire for about 3 months and the battery port on the phone was replaced when it was in getting its screen fixed. Put it on charge last night and when I woke up this morning the battery was still red. Now after having it on charge all day it has the solid orange light on and the battery life on the screen has the little chagring symbol in it but the green bit isnt moving and when i take it off charge it says "please connect charger, less that 12% battery remaining". Does anyone know what the problem is?

Have you tried charging it with the screen switched off?

I am also having this issue, i'm really annoyed at this, i have read a couple of threads that say blow some compressed air into the mini usb port as this problem usually occurs due to dirt on the contacts. i am yet to test this, but give it a go and see if it works.
