Help Battery Options

The Flow

Newbie
Hello, newbie to the forum. I just have a quick question in regards to battery/battery life. I have read that some users get 3 hours with the standard battery. Is this the norm? Are there higher capacity batteries that are not of the 'extended' battery form factor? If so, where can I get them and how much do they generally run costwise. I am about to make the jump from Verizon to Metro and this is my main concern at the moment. (besides rolling the dice on the rebooting issue) Any advice/opinions are more than welcome, thank you for your time and help. -The Flow

I have always got 7-9 hours on the standard battery. I added an app called 2x Battery (Free on the Market) that kills your data when the screen is off (you still get texts, emails, etc) and have boosted my battery life to 13-20 hours.

There is a bigger battery thats 1800mAh battery (ours stock is 1500mAh) I just did a quick Google search and found this one [HLI-VS910SL] Buy Mugen Power 1800mAh Extended Battery for LG Revolution (probably could find one cheaper) that doesnt make the phone huge like with the 3000mAh extended battery. You still use the stock back plate with the 1800mAh battery.

Typically, the battery life is 6-8 hours, dependent on usage, and can be elongated to almost three times the length with the extended battery. Try and find out if Verizon still has their LG Revolution's extended battery 50% off -- it fits ours and it's half the price!

if the battery is only lasting 3 - 4 hours you have way too many background syncs (gmail, facebook, etc) going.. widgets too.. it won't help with widgets but like shinyside suggested 2x battery works wonders.. ive had mine last up to 18 hours or so... it cuts the data connection to certain intervals.. it will check email and facebook and what not every so often then cut off the data.. so you'll still get updates.. paid version you can set it other then 15 minutes.. well worth it.. another thing to do is turn the brightness of your screen down.. settings/display/brightness.. i think it is automatically set to auto if im not mistaken.. kinda overkill IMHO..

I ran a quick search in regards to batteries, hope this helps people making battery related decisions

I use juice defender. Uses less ram then 2x. I also use setCPU to control my processor speed when.I get low on battery

I went to Metro to get an extra battery for my Esteem. I didn't want the bulk on the phone that you get with an extended life battery. I ended up getting the media dock which comes with the extra battery. It charges the phone and the extra battery at the same time and holds the phone sideways for media viewing.

I have that as well, it actually doesn't charge them at the same time. if you have the spare battery charging and you plug in your phone the charge light for the spare battery will turn off.

Not enough power runs through it to charge both at the same time.

Its still good though since it can charge your space battery while your phone can still be used.

I have an extended battery but just purchased the 1800Mah since i want to be able to use the Triton case.

John,

In this thread it seems that the MMDock does not actually charge both phone and extra battery at the same time.

Thanks for the info on the charging, none the less it does the job and looks cool on my desk at work with the digital clock displayed.

I have discovered that once your phone is charged completely then it seems to turn the charge to the spare battery.

Just wondering as I have not seen a double-layered battery for sale through numerous google searches. Was hoping that a 6-7mah would be available. Mugen Power looks promising! Oh yeah where do I send it J? ;)

I just purchased the 3900mAh extended battery with cover and charger that gbiggie referred to on eBay for $59.43 total and I must say it fits and looks better than I thought. I was afraid that it would make the phone feel too large and heavy and was worried that the cover would be cheap and would fall off, but it's actually the opposite. The cover fits tight just like the original and the phone actually fits much more comfortable in my hand and it's not too heavy. I'm charging it right now but I can't wait to see how much more time I can get on the battery without a recharge. The new battery is almost 3 times the capacity! Currently I'm only getting a day, and I'm not even a heavy user. Will update everyone later on the difference it made.

please do!!!!

I used to not want the extended battery since it would make my phone bulky. However, when I came back from school one day, my phone went from 100% battery to 20% in 4 HOURS!! So I ordered an extended battery and never looked back. There are 2 clear downsides to having one of these though:

1. No case will fit your phone so you have to to be extra careful when holding it.
2. The back cover isn't tight enough for the battery, so my phone restarts randomly throughout the day about 4-6 times.

Put some tape on the battery through the inner party of the phone so it holds up the battery wherever you move the phone. Good thing is that you won't be able to see the tape since the battery door will cover the tape, being inside :)...
